Is it?

You didnt ask what Dan likes from a driving game. If he finds race after race after race of simulation style driving fun, Forza is for him. If he prefers more light hearted arcade style driving with a bit of a side plot, NFS is a better choice.

Forza no dought about it, from what iv'e been told shift is now a simulation aswell, only does'nt have nearly as many car's/tracks as the new forza does....plus the options of tuning/styling(paint) etc with forza is endless....it's a no brainer IMO.
But as matt said it really depends on your style of gaming i suppose....check this out for some forza footage :D

I played the first 3 tracks of NFS Shift last night and on 1st impressions I would have to say forza.

I wish the Logitech G25 would work on the Xbox360, that would be amazing with Forza2 / 3

Shift got a very good 5 star rating in the Sun this morning.

It certainly is being portrayed in a very different manor to previous NFS games.

I am yet to read a review that has compelled me to buy it. They all seem to say how different it is from the NFS series - which is a good thing, but how does it compare against proper sims like Forza 3?

TBH I dont think it will, Forza 3 is looking very polished - and the demo is out on the 24th so we can all find out.

Shift strikes me like another Grid, nice try but not good enough.

The point seems to be that Shift is a nice balance between arcade playability and sim seriousness. I'll more than likely end up getting both at some stage, but I have a feeling I may end up favouring Shift.

I find sims a bit tedius if I'm honest. I appreciate the realism, but real life can be boring!

There's plenty on here that don't. Some people, not me, find race after race after race with no variation other than track shape fun. I find police chases quite fun, if a little tedious if it goes on for more than a few minutes. Have to confess, I bought NFS Carbon and Forza 2 around the same time and prefered NFS Carbon. Although Pro Street was a bit pants.

Police chases are well funny. That cops and robbers type game on NFS carbon was hours of fun online! Pro Street was pants but Carbon was great. Underground was even better though 8)

Hmm, I never bought Underground although the adverts always made me think about it.
Might scour ebay for a bargain.
