[Mk2] [NA] Key Fob Sync

Post by james13009 »

I have a '97 MR2 mk2, last night one of the key fobs has lost synchronisation with the car it would seem. Changed the battery over this morning still no good. Red light flashes on the key fob.

I've heard there might be a sequence of removing the battery / pressing buttons required to resynchronise ?

I believe you have to stand close to the car and hold both buttons on the fob for 20 seconds (assuming it's a factory alarm on a UK car).

Factory Fit, UK car. Is that with the car already unlocked or locked?

(My other fob works fine)

Hi,
Just bought a spare fob from ebay.

Does anyone know how to reprogram a new fob?

I have a TVSS III alarm on a 98 UK MR2, on the back of the fob it reads RTT/D/X 1123 and the part no. is 08191-00880.

You could try the fob reset not sure if its going to do anything unless its programmed.

Take battery out of fob.
Get well away from car.
Press down both fob buttons for 30 seconds
Re-assemble fob.
Go to car press unlock twice.

This corrects fobs that have become unsynced with the car, not sure if it will do anything but worth a try.

Hi guys, newbie just joined via google search for the fob problem.

sorry to drag up such an old thread but it is relevant to my problem.

I am having the same issue and would like to know if there is a way of reprogramming the fob (part number 08191-00880) without ripping out the dash.

Any help greatly appreciated.

if you need to email carl1008 at hotmail dot com

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I think I am going to get 2 fobs from ebay as one is taped up to stop things dropping out and the other the battery moves about inside as one of the ridges that keeps it in one place is broken.

Hopefully I can take the boards out of mine and put them in the better condition ones.
