I was tempted to do that but couldn't be bothered to go through all that crap with changing dates and profiles etc..

Never intended to buy/play this game. But got it for my birthday, so thought let's give it a go.
Took me around 3 hours to get my 1st license (all gold tho).
And started with the special events, and stopped again at the stupid Top Gear VW Transporter race.

So checked out the 2nd hand cars, and spotted  an MR2!
Crappy review tho, A11 MR20 and 3S-G [-X

A 97 GT-S Tintop, but shame 1 year older then mine. But it's alright for my 2nd day play.

Decided to look for mods... I see, no front and rear lips/mods. Bit sad :(

And because it's a standard car, and not a premium car, I can't change alloys etc.

So my question. Is there a way to upgrade to premium car?

Nah you can't change it to a premium unless they release a patch. I think it's bait daft as some cars from the 90's have no in car in car view or damage but cars from the 50's do.....
Alot of cars can't be bought unles you see them in used car dealership which is bit annoying but I check it after every few races.

wait till you get to the lotus challenge round the top gear track, Jesus Christ it's hard to get gold. Best I can get is second after 1000 tries. The slightest bump and your dq'd tap a cone and it's the same. Yet the AI can send cones flying all over the track and ram each other like crazy!

They did say they intend on releasing a patch to upgrade a lot of the cars to premium status so you can have more freedom with them.

This patch I suspect is codenamed Gran Turismo 6 :D
Engine rebuilt by: Steve Horrocks & Andy Jones

I spent ages test driving cars on GT5 to see how the handled as a choice before deciding to buy one or not. I tested loads like 200sx, GTO's, Subarus, 300ZX for my next potential car.

Eventually the MR2 Gt-S came up in the UCD and i bought it, i couldnt get it round the track without oversteering into a huge spin lol even with low power.

Having driven an MR2 turbo for a week or so i feel that GT over emphasises the oversteer of the car buit then i guess i didnt drive in real life quite how i do on GT...It did put me off potentially buying an MR2 but i did it anyway:)

Right, Seasonal event

its called Gran Turismo - Expert Challange Race and its between Honda Civic and Supercar Festival events.

Has anyone managed to come 1st in the Lotus 111R challange? I cant seem to get any closer than 2 secs off the lead guy by the end and even then it took me ages to work out how to come 2nd!
