S2000 v Z4

Post by dawolf »

Had a nice little drive last night in the S2000 with a guy in a BMW Z4. Was driving along a rural dual carriageway coming up to some lights as they changed to green. The Z4 in front drove away fairly normally off the lights in the left lane then as he noticed me going to overtake him he appeared to floor it. I just made it past him and then moved into the left lane. We were both driving hard along the straight which went uphill slightly and then into a long sweeping bend. I was doing my best to stay in the v-tec zone. We were driving for about half a mile or so and it was very close indeed. I just about stayed in front by about 2-3 car lengths until I noticed my speed was edging over the limit at which point I decided to back off and let him carry on. He flashed his indicators as he went past. Was good fun and very close indeed, in fact I'd say it was very much even. Not exactly sure which variant of Z4 it was though :-k .

Damn slow these Z4's and S2000's, 1/2mile to get to 70mph! ;)

How many exhausts did it have, and what reg?

Was most likely a 3.0i which is pretty much the same on paper as a S2000, the newer 3.0si should have the edge over the S2000 as its pushing 261bhp, 30 more then 3.0i

Lol. Erm I think it was an '06 reg but didn't really notice anything else. It seemed to grip well on the bends.

The S2000 is a nice looking car, no doubt about it. But the Z4 is a great looking car IMO. Very unique, very daring and it all works nicely.

I do like the look of the Z4, apart from the bonnet which is totally out of proportion with the rear end. It has grown on me more but I still prefer the S2000. Plus, I'm not one to go for a car just because of it's badge.
