oil

Post by spooferman »

I have been running my MR2 GT on 10/40 semi synthetic. Would it be safe to use 5/40 fully synthetic?

Or am I totally the wrong grades

I would use 10/40 fully synthetic, thats a good balance.5/40 is too thin in my opinion.

If you look in your toyota handbook they recommend 10/40 for mr2 s.

5w40 is fine, and better than 10w40. Remember that the first number is the thickness when the oil is COLD, so you WANT the thinner 0il at startup. When hot, both oils will be the same viscocity.

the toyota manual was written years ago.
