Hi All,
I'm currently cleaning up the engine bay of my MK1A. Any good tips on getting a good wet shine on the rubber hoses (without replacing them !!). I've tried a silicone spray in the past but it doesn't last very long. Any good ideas?.
Thanks,
Tim

Autoglym engine cleaner works great. Carefull with the electrics though.
Re: Cleaning up the engine bay - hoses?
I was wondering how people get that 'wet look' shine too?
Re: Cleaning up the engine bay - hoses?
Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber care, spray it on...leave it for 15min then go back and wipe off the excess.

Why not just change the hoses for some black silicon ones. They will be better than the 20+ year old hoses currently on your engine and will have a decent shine to them.
I think the whole engine bay can be done with about 3m of hosing.

I agree it's a really cost effective way of tarting the engine up

Yeh there's a thread on the MK1 club site about a possible group buy for an AW11 specific set of silicone hoses but it hasn't got off the ground yet. If anyone else is interested get your names down if you can.
