looking to do a few 1/4 events this year, and wouldnt have thought my 18s will be any good, lol..
tho grip is awsome i have to say with the tyres already on there. never any issues except when damp and running full 1.4bar of boost.
dry tho, never EVER a problem and the car cna be launched well.
have seen a few of the big guns on here with stock wheels for the back?
is 7j and et45 enough to put down this big power??
can i confirm there ideal because of weight? size (15inch), and so can put a nice fat sticky tyre on there?
are good drag tyres fairly cheap on a 15inch wheel to?
thanks
are stock wheels good for drag if a good tyre is on there???

You can squeeze a drag tyre onto a narrower wheel due to the soft side wall, although a correct sized wheel will yeild better results.
I so far have used the std rims with no issues at all so you should be just fine.
If i were you i'd go with a tyre which is approx 24" high and 8.5" wide and expect to pay about £300 - £350 a pair.

holly hell, i wont be breaking records like you nath, so prob dont need an actual drag wheel, i was more looking for what is it r888? something like that?
is it werth putting that on a stock wheel? stock 225.50 size? or just putting a r888 on the rear of my 18s? (silly?)
is putting a drag like your talking about likely to break something on a stock-ish due to the awsome grip at launch?

Go and do some runs on your normal wheels, if you dont have any trouble on the road you will be probably be fine at santa pod for a few runs as it has much more grip than a normal road. I personally found worn tyres better than new ones at santa pod.

Re: are stock wheels good for drag if a good tyre is on there???
well ive got me some stock wheels now for a good price.
so if i ever refurbed the 18s for any reason, id still be on the road.
plus i can try the 15s out for the 1/4 mile now and some airfield days.
was thinking of r888s, seen some for around 110per tyre...225/50....
would i want to keep the same stock tyre sizes???
