Knocking noise on full lock

Post by tobstar »

I was making a sharp turn at super low speed in a car park and heard a loud but brief knock coming from my front left.

Any ideas?

And thanks to everyone who recommended that choke kit, just awesome. Good fun installing too.

front drop link and un even surface? would be my first though but it can be VERY large number of things.

Get a large open carpark and try and recreate it :thumleft:

does it affect the handling when driving?

I have the same problem with my mk2....

also my wheel catches on full lock on the drivers side. does yours?

If so, could be the lower control arm/tie bar (rubber is nackered or bar is bent)

I don't think that if affects the handling although the steering doesn't seem to be as tight as it used to be. It's a bit skittish.

I get it randomly, always at low speed and close if not in full lock, the wheel doesn't catch either.

The guy I bought if off told me there was an advisory on a wishbone i think. I'll have to go back and have a look. The reason I ask is that I got zero cash so unless it's causing long term problems i'll have to deal with it.

my guess is a worn ball joint , worn bushes or steering end. drop links will not just rattle on full lock. as the steering seems a bit vague then any of these still apply. not expensive parts wise.
