Guildford Meets 2009

Post by Olly.Dent »

After abit of a lack of Guildford meets last year i want to bring it back stronger than ever by making it the second weekend of every month.

Some input into the event by all would be good because it would be nice to try new things with it, maybe more night runs, new routes etc. Come on everyone let me hear what you think.

Sounds good.

Night runs I think need to be kept a "special occasion", but yes, maybe make these quarterly over the better months of the year?

Routes... why change something thats not broken? However, I think deviating from the beaten path isn't a bad thing. As long as the bulk of the A272 is left in there then I don't think it will be a bad thing to do. Variations on end points, spidering out from the 272 perhaps?

Im going to start the first one on February 8th starting at The Spectrum www.guildfordspectrum....iew/14/31/ starting at 11:30am using the old A286/272 route, i will set up a tread for it now.

Dates for the rest of the year will be.....

March 8th
April 5th (cos of Easter)
May 10th
June 14th
July 12th
August 9th
September 13th
October 11th
November 8th
December 13th

Some of these dates will need to be changed because of BIG national meets so dont set them in stone. Best bet is to keep an eye on this tread for date changes.

Maybe do 3 night runs over the summer??

have to agree, too many night runs and kinda spoils the occasion,
as for new routes, perhaps use existing route and extend??
dates suite me fine as im flexible, but better to set dates for the yr so gives evryone a chance to book time off work etc :thumleft:

Yeah sounds good.

Defo know I can't make the 14th June one as I'll be driving back from the Swiss Tuning Show in Geneva on that day 8)

Just praying that I can make the rest. If I can get my car back for the first Guildford meet of 2009, I'll be a happy man.

Maybe meet up with the OC's Brighton runs, like this summer?

Nice one for sorting this out so early this year Olly, we might not have a break from Feb to Nov this time

Nice one Olly, I know Tiamat's not had much time recently to sort out the Guildford runs.

Midnight runs sound good, and yeh keep it for the warmer months so we don't all have a pile up

I'm up for trying different routes if we know they're good :thumleft:

Coming from you Alfa boy!

Brighton would be a Fantastic Idea

Munnsy No Mankinis!

Tunnel wise on the way to brighton there is two that can be added Worthing way

Come mid 2010 the guildford route will change to take in the Devils Punchbowl Hindhead 1.5mile long tunnels that are being built at the moment. :thumleft:

No doubt they'll be ridden with speed/average speed/tax/dirty underwear/number plate recognition cameras.
