T-Bar Seals

Post by christiantimms »

Hey everyone - does anyone know an alternate source of t-bar seals other than Mr T himself? I've a quote of over £400 (inc VAT) for replacing the seals on my mk2.

I've had enough of wet bum syndrome!!! There's got to be a better way!

Merry Christmas too... and of course, Happy New Year!

clingfilm and sealant works well too, article in the knowledge base. Lubricating / restorer spray for the rubber also used with varying results

wasn't there some one on here not so long ago who bought some from the states? I know before everyone starts crowing the exchange rates have dropped etc but I still think there was a saving to be had.
By the way have you tried the offset pin mod yet?
The search button can be useful - hint hint. :thumleft:

Try a search -there's loads of T Bar seal stuff turns up -just remember to click "search for all terms".

I think the place folk have got cheaper OEM seals is something like "Dallas Toyota". Think they're advertised about half the price I paid for T ones.

I bought mine from Dallas Toyota about 6 weeks ago. Got both sides inc postage for what Mr T UK wanted for one (£205 I think). Skywalker fitted them for me and other than still needing some adjustment to the o/s door glass to clear some wind noise all is good. No more soaking (and I do mean soaking) carpets. :thumleft:

...so who are these Dallas Toyota people? Is it these folk:

...and how do you order from them? Web Site? E-Mail? Telephone?

...and finally, :D what about import tax etc etc?

£205 sounds reasonable for a dry backside!

(I'm also going to try the other options in the mean time, but new ones sound ideal).

You can also try:

Before you replace the seals, it may be worthwhile to install new eccentric rod pockets (63284-17030) or eccentric rod guides (63283-17040)

I ordered online and paid by CC. £205 was all inc of taxes and delivery. You just need the 4 part no.s (2 each side). If you search for the orig. thread I think you'll find them there...
