[Mk2] [Turbo] Reading Speedo sensor with Standalone ECU

Post by cantfindausername »

I thought I would do a bit of info hunting as I'm bored.

I was chatting with my tuner and he mentioned that one thing he's got to figure out is how to get the speedo reading from the gearbox without the stock ECU.

If I'm right in thinking, the stock set up goes Gearbox Sensor > ECU > Speedo.

So, if the ECU is being removed, what solutions have people used to get the Speedo reading again?

Thanks,
Ant

The speedo signal goes Gearbox - Speedo - Ecu so you will be fine

that explains alot, i have a blitz id color which is connected to the purple wire from the ecu, it was working fine but as soon as i put a delimiter behind the dash it started reading totally different, i wasn't sure why as i thought the delimiter sent the new signal to the dash , still must though otherwise the speedo would still be running the old 160 mph, so the purple wire behind the dash sends the signal to the ecu :-k , im still slightly confused unless the signal is either 2-way or another signal goes into the speedo from the ecu :?

i'll shut up, lol

Cool... that should make things a lot easier.

If thats the case then, I'm assuming I'll still need to put my speedo convertor on the back of the gauge cluster to make it read 180mph?
