400 bhp

Post by tubby_mr2 »

If my car does not sell i've decided to tune her up to keep me interested. What would this take and who would u guys trust to do the work? and any idea on what the cost would be around?

Decat
Up-rated intercooler or charge cooler
forged pistons (some would argue forged conrods too)
uprated fuel pump
870cc injectors
bigger turbo (GT28 and up)
Stand alone ECU

400bhp is easily achieved, but for the same cost you could opt for bigger injectors and turbo and get 450bhp + :D

Gonna cost at least £5k I reckon.

Yes if you go for the right turbo :thumleft:

The limit of the stock engine and fueling system is about 270 - 280bhp at the wheels and that's only with seriously good charge cooling and a stand alone ECU.

To go above that level there are no short cuts I'm afraid. A forged engine re-build, ECU and bigger turbo are absolutely essential.

A gt28xx turbo aint gonna get anywhere near that power,

For 400+ you wanna be GT30 family +

:thumleft: 8)

Get a quote from Rogue. It'll probably be the most expensive, but you will get the correct spec for your power goal and the right attention to detail concerning the re-build.

What credit crunch, eh?

With the bigger variants of thre GT28 you should be able to get close to 400fwbhp on a fully built motor/charge cooled/good map

I agree, though, it would be far better to run a GT3071 :thumleft:

I don't think you've got 70bhp transmission loss.
