'snap-off' steering wheel boss/hub kits

Post by jb007 »

Hey! Want to fit one of these to my car http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ ... de=MTNKK04

thats a mountney one and i want a black leather (cant get blue can ya??) 'D' shape wheel which i can 'snap-off' and take with me.

anyone used one of these or got any experience? will that kit be all i need minus a wheel or will i need a mk1 boss too?

you might find that link is just for the boss.

heres the snap off part...

With one fitted you'll most probably find the steering wheel to far forward and away from the indicator stalk a they can add upto an inch to an existing boss.

ahhh right, fairy snuff! thought it was to good tobe true, so im looking at about £130 for boss and snap off then at least £50 for a leather wheel (mountney but id rather get a 2nd hand basic nice momo off ebay).

right change of plan then, ill get a mk1 boss (momo one on ebay now!) and a momo wheel - but what else could i do to render teh car "useless" as it were, its not breakins im worried about its actual theft of the car itself while its in manchester!

I liked that idea as my legs are long but arms...not as long lol it dont matter now, im not paying 100 quid for it, i could spend 100 quid elsewhere on the car better!

ps. ebay m1 boss now ended, went for £21 quid plus 5 p&p, they are 40quid new i think so ive not lost out too much.

If your worried about the car being stolen fit a kill switch to the fuel pump or starter motor. You wont even be able to hot wire the car if you've got a kill switch.

incidently the snap off might be back on, someone wants to sell one. I think momo wheels fit mountney as well so ill need to find that out.

D shape wheels are a real love/hate. I brought my OMP superquadro for £115 along with the boss for £38....

Image

Its been sitting in the garage for months now after i needed to take it off. I would put it back on but the girlfriend struggles to drive the car with it as its only 320mm. Also i cant throw the car around as much due to its size. I'm after a 345mm Richbrook R2 wheel which is slightly smaller then stock.

d shape OMP love it, what do you think to the suede as opposed to leather? the R2 wheel is nice, not too modern and OTT, its nice - about £100 right?

I originally wanted a momo f1 concept (witht he 2 red NOS/horn buttons) but on a mk1 with blue interior it would look sad :( ill wait till my supra comes along in a few years lol

I defo defo want a d shape if i change wheel from stock, and it has to be black. from looking at 87' esprits, its ok to have the wheel black like the dahs and keep everything else coloured, with a black gear knob/chrome one with s/s kit - its gonna all look very good.

if you end up getting rid of the wheel for good give me a shout!! :thumleft:

Just to say I have the nsap off kit fitted with a momo wheel and have had it fitted to various MK1s for over 10 years now without problem! Great idea.
