Looking forward to next Tuesday :thumleft:

New set of tyres just about to go on the MR2 Only Track Mk1, after our Nürburgring experience on our shonky Nankoyoflop armco finder tyres, if I can be bothered at the weekend might even have a go at fitting the KYB dampers and track springs

Steve - remember you'll need the alignment sorting after you've swapped the springs

I still haven't done my geometry since doing the shocks and springs nearly two years ago

I love the over-steery madness it delivers and am scared to change it

During the first half of this forecast period, the weather is expected to remain unsettled with rain or showers in all areas. Some of the rain or showers are likely to be heavy, and there is a risk of hail and thunder, especially for southeast England early in the period. There should however, be some sunny spells between the showers, but it will feel cool for the time of year in the occasionally rather blustery winds, these winds strong at times around southern and western coasts. During the second half of the period, the weather is expected to remain unsettled, though a trend to slightly drier and warmer weather possible, especially later in the period in the south and the east.

Kirst,

Are you still waiting for shocks? Why not lend a complete unit from your old car or another breaker? It shouldn't be too bad changing the whole lot over.

You should get your ball of string out and measure the current setup - that way if you have to swap anything you can reset it to how it is now

This is a cunning plan :) Given the droplinks have been done recently, swapping the whole strut should be straightforward enough if you can find one.

Argggh! stupid weather, this rain is spoiling all my fun at the moment! good news is our new tyres have been delivered today and look pretty good, MARANGONI ZETA LINEAs just need to get them fitted now.

If you struggle Kirsty Im planning to take the dampers off our original scrapper and fit the KYB inserts, if this goes easily enough I was going to tackle taking the dampers and springs off our track car, and fit the new set-up. So there would be a set of standard springs and dampers you would be welcome to, we might need the help of someone who knows what they are doing though to ensure both cars are put back together in time! #-o

Cheers Mart Id not thought about the alignment Id best look into that as well!

well i've decided to bring my rex instead of the mk1 this time.. shall be interesting. i'm fully expecting to be quite slow compared to my mk1 due to the lardiness of the rex and its lack of turbo power, but hey shall be fun i reckon, i've got no real clue as to what its like driving quite hard so hopefully will learn a thing or two!
its on some really pants tyres though which will make it interesting, but my thinking is, if im hard enough on them i then have a good excuse to buy a decent set

anyone is welcome for pass rides too, tho be aware it prob wont be very exciting!!

Hmmm..... :-k Now you've got me thinking. Do you think yours would be lonely if it was on its own....? I could take mine along for a gentle drive there and back plus blow the cobwebs out a little on the circuit.... There should just about be enough petrol in that part of the world for two rotarys to be on track together....

....but the SC is all prepped and I'd rag that rigid while I'd have to be gentle with the Rex....plus it's twice as expensive in petrol to take the Rex....but it's one of the closer circuits for me....Doh!

Guy - why would you be taking your Rex instead of the Mk1, is it purely to make friends with the Rex on track? Which would you take? Rex or the SC?

I think the grip and handling of the Rex may make up for its weight......but I'm not prepared to throw it at the corners where as I am prepared to throw the SC at them.

lol! yeah the main reason to take the rx7 is to get to know it a bit better!
the brakes on the mr2 DO work fine, just that odd pad wear and squeaking, it's pretty much set for track (even technically a bit stripped, as the carpets are now out being dried/cleaned  so its a bit bare...) but yeah it's going to sit it out this time..

i must admit, my rx may be a bit lonely on its own there, two of them though, there'd be no petrol left for anyone else after a few laps

difficult choice for you there though, i was loving your s/c at anglesey although it prob uses about as much fuel as your fd i would imagine (well..kinda....) if its wet i'd say bring the s/c, and if its dry (or looks like it will be dry) bring the rex :thumleft:

not sure how the weights gonna affect the rx7 as such yet in corners, but it does grip like a mother...no turbo to make it break loose easy i guess..
oh heres a pic of it too so on the day you all wont be like 'who's this numpty parking near the mr2's'
