You'll be much happier when you know the system is brand new from the manifold back! :thumleft:

Absolutely. Especially so with the lifetime guarrantee, it's fit and forget really. Though I had some discussion with them and they reckoned the system that's on there isn't in bad nick really, so can last a fair bit longer.

Had a good look at the repair, the new bracket will help stop it moving up and down which is what it had been doing since I bought the car. This is what caused the problem in the first place as the silencer was just not very well supported.

All just as well really after paying out £560 for car insurance, £70 to Toyota for various parts this morning and £70 odd quid for the exhaust repair, you could say it's been an expensive day!

Also ordered an illuminated fog light switch (which is the stock UK Corolla GT switch) from Toyota. A steal at erm, £36 + VAT!

Still, will be able to get £20 I reckon for the front foglight switch that doesn't illuminate that is currently in the dash.

£40 for a fog light switch!?!

Try ebay? I'd rather keep a fog light switch that doesn't illuminate than blow £40 on a new one LOL

Suppose if you're going for "concourse" then it all needs be reet I guess.

Well, I could have got a Halfords one for a tenner. The car is never going to be concours, it's going to be good though.

I need an illuminated foglight switch to pass the MOT. No idea how it passed last time!

I think though it's expensive, I'll only buy one once, so if it's OEM it's got to be the way to go. It's details like these that make all the difference IMO. :+:

In other news picked up some parts today:

2x new auxillary belts
Thermostat gasket so we can change the coolant now. Had the Longlife for months(!).
Steering rack gaiter.

That was £70.

Oh and whilst at Tatton a number of our friends kept telling us about a cool model in the autojumble so we picked it up.

As well as having a number of 'tuning' parts to fit such as racing seat, 4AGE on ITB's, strut brace, Watanabes, wind deflectors, exhaust etc, the model can be adjusted to increase camber and lower ride height.

Mark didn't want to destroy the packaging so he just fitted the Watanabes:

Thought it was alright for £20. :)

Or perhaps the other way round!

Though ironically we think that silver over black was my car's original colour scheme.

If Mark wouldn't let you take the toy pieces out of the plastic he's not going to let you respray the vehicle

To be fair I'm happy to leave the model in it's box with all the tuning bits in place, looks better that way. :+:

We may re-paint the model white, though if we scoured ebay hard enough we may well be able to turn up a white one. There is also an Initial D model too.

I'm not as mad as Toni when it comes to this kind of thing, but thought it was alright for something that turned up at an autojumble. The same autojumble where I spotted the SC Super Edition that Mark ended up buying on the spot no less!

It's been a productive weekend, though I didn't take any pics as it wasn't that exciting bearding wise.

Still, I have put new Toyota auxillary drive belts which was no sweat really, also changed the thermostat, flushed the system and refilled with Longlife. Was dead easy to bleed (ie not much to do) compared to the MR2 and only took about 4 litres if that.

Also in related news, I found where I can buy some decals for the car as a few people kindly pointed me in the direction of the AEU86.org shop. I only ordered the rear ones, but it turns out that I made the 100th webshop order so one of the admins (thanks, Art) emailed me to offer me another sticker free of charge. So, I ordered the side Trueno stickers, so now I have a complete set! Should be able to get these on in time for JAE. :)

Thanks AEU86.org! :+:

Just have the foglight switch to fit and the new steering gaiter which will take a bit longer I expect!
