To the people who say "It's a £70k car compared to my £7k car" .. well, as a %age it's probably the same to them as the MR2 is to us. The owners who track GT3's probably earn 10x us, have a house worth 10x ours etc. etc. I've always thought, if you can't afford to replace it, don't race it.

I've seen a Micra with a 200sx engine .. it runs stoopid quick times at Pod. Would I have one over my car? No. :D

I've seen that vid of the twin engined smart car that beats a 360 (low 13 quater) .. would I take the Smart car? No.

A moped will get me to work in 25% the time my car does, will I get a moped? No. =;

All IMO

Good cars?

Post by Harry »

Just got back and had to read four pages cheers.

Good points interesting reading from various views of looking at the subject.

Thinking about it maybe the person who has a lot of spare money wont mind treating him or herself to an expensive car like a porche at the £80k
range for pleasure prestige or maybe pure passion for the car seems fair enough, maybe the average working bloke can get an mr2 tune it to their taste have great fun feel very happy about how it makes one feel driving
a great car as well.

A car can also be hobby where you meet others at clubs and interact there are an infinite range of motivating factors behind man/women and their machine. :-k

Some one mentioned earlier that they would rather spend money on a property than on an expensive super car which is sensible and also i would prefer to focus on investment than a depreciating asset but same time the business man can off set or lease or own a supercar through his company.

My question is which Porche is affordable but also good all round?

You can get the basic 911 for under 60k which gives you 325bhp and one of the most usable supercars ever made. I can't believe how comfortable it is on the road but how responsive on track.

That site is for a day and fairly good prices you can be a passenger and drive or morning track racing and afternoon rallying they also do helocopters and tanks/army vehicles plus you can crush a car by driving over it with a tank now how many have done that

Continuing the Porsche thread, I've just picked up this months copy of EVO and there's a fantastic (well written) piece on the Ruf RT12 and 911 CTR 'Yellowbird'. Both were put through their paces at the Nurburgring.

The yellowbird looks so cool and goes like xxxx off a shovel for a car over 15 years old. 212mph top speed (0-100mph in about 6.7 seconds)

The RT12 is a beast and even faster (naturally). Ruf reckon the average one puts out about 700bhp.

On a Jap theme, last months EVO featured the Imprezza Litchfield Type 25. Looks fecking amazing - completely revamped and fettled 2.5 litre engine with cosworth involvement and powerstation mapping. Over 400bhp and, most importantly, over 415 lbs/ft torque at just over 3000rpm. The best they've ever driven and not just fast but ridiculously fast. Also, the new Impreza looks the biz from the front - the new nose is a big improvement.
