I'm afraid that my mechanical skills are somewhat limited but I'd really like to help you out. If we could get some of the 'big gun' IMOC guys to post on this thread I'm sure they would have it sorted in a jiffy.. :-k

Maybe it's the thread title or the first few posts, but I'm surprised that some of the gurus have not taken up the challenge yet...

C'mon experts!

Hi all,

The sysmtoms are very reminisant to fuel starvation under load.

Even though you have an uprated fuel pump/regulator, the ECU is sensing a rich mixture situation caaused by excessive fuel demands due to the high preset boost setting. Because of the latter, the ECU can't meet the demmand, maybe due to a restricted air intake volume, so then the ECU leans off the mixture, and this is detected by the knock sensor, hence the error codes.

The power will then suddenly drop off, the revs will drop, and with the now reduced airflow, the engine off boost, the ECU then senses normallity and the cycle starts.

As was suggested, fit a MBC and set it to approx stock level, and you may find the car runs fine, although not with the previous performance, but at least stable running.

I agree that the EBC "Could ??" be the trouble.

Food for thought, if not tell me to shut up #-o

Thanks g1swx.

I'm going to buy a grainger valve from Rogue but I don't see anyway to actually buy it on the site. Maybe orders placed with Rogue are all done by telephone.

You have to call rogue. Do it asap and you'll get it quicker!

The AVCR is a very complicated toy with many settings, if not set up right it can cause odd boosting patterns!

I just ordered one and Lynn said I should have it by tuesday \:D/

If this sorts it I'm going to be one happy chappy. I'm a bit worried about the engine warning light coming on everytime I try to boost but hopefully it's related to the boost problem.

If 52 comes up evertime you rev the car that means the knock sensor is broken and it will drive like absolute poo!

Not sure what 25 is - refresh my memory - was it running lean?

25 is "lean error" but I'm going through fuel like there's no tomorrow so I can't be running lean. The exhaust pops all the time.

Do you know where the knock sensor is and I'll try to change it for the spare one I have? I can only get in from the top, not from under the car, at least until my mechanic gets back from his holiday next week.

52 Knock sensor signal [KNK]
When a short circuit or a circuit detachment was detected in the knock sensor or its connectors while the engine speed is between 2850 rpm and 7300 rpm.
* Wirings and connectors (knock sensor systems)
* Knock sensor
* ECU

25 Lean error [Ox]
When no 'rich' signals were sent by the O2 sensor for over 90 seconds while the car is travelling at speeds under 100km/h with engine speed above 1500 rpm.
* Wirings and connectors (O2 sensor)
* Fuel system (injector, fuel pressure)
* Vacuum sensor
* Coolant temp sensor

Could be your problem my friend - o2 sensor faulty and you'll run too much fuel and lose performance!

The knock sensor is directly under one of the cylinders so yes you do have to go at it from underneith.

They're renowned for being as fragile as Wayne Rooneys temper control in a heated situation!

I can see this from above and it looks exactly like the spare knock sensor I have only with a different connector....

Is that not it?

I tried driving with the o2 sensor disconnected but it made no difference

Nope, it screws into the block underneith. I think it's cyl no. 3 IIRC. It you look at the engine from the top from the boot - it's under the 2nd right cylinder.

Pretty hard to get to tbh and will require the car to be jacked up quite a bit.

Into the top of the engine block. I'll have to get my mechanic to change the knock sensor for me as I have no ramps or anything, just a little scissor jack.

And I thought relationships were difficult..... ](*,) Pfffff!

It looks like it could be something to do with the coolant temp sensor the pic you have taken but not too sure tbh.
