the poor guy above raves about the couple saying nice car adn small pen1s.Well ask yourself this.
Whats worse, being told you have a small pen1s because youve worked hard, made the money and treated yourself to a supercar that others become jealous of
OR
get an MR2, pretend to ahve something you do not and then stand there and take any credit
(or insult) for having done everything a REAL Ferrari owner may have done in order to get the real thing.
If you ask me, its obvious who feels they need the pen1s extension more so!

Adding a ferrari kit is no different to putting a veilside/bomex/border kit on some fit well some dont.
they are not the same, veilside, bomex etc etc are kits, putting on a kit that resembles a ferrari is saying to people i own a ferrari, ie not a toyota, not a modified mr2, but a ferrari..

and Brian, not sure where on earth you got that info about rev1/2s being quicker with a ct26 than having a ct20b..

Only if you put ferrari badges on it..

imo
TRD kitting an mr2 then putting TRD badges on- does it make it an official TRD car?
I see your point tho Jim, maybe its not the best comparison my point was to show that ferrari kits arnt the only way to make an mr2 look like something else..

how do you know that mr pinifi-wotsit didn't design it at home in his bedroom
?

Adding Ferrari badges and"suggesting" that its a Ferrari is no different to having a GT40 or AC Cobra kit car.

Get OVER it and enjoy wherever you are, I find this kind of thing childish in the extreme.

In future I WILL moderate this kind of stupidness.
![]()
Yes that means a warning and a ban if we have to.
![]()
![]()
Also give people a break.![]()
If they want to stick a Ferrari kit on that's their choice.
![]()
Just because you don't like it there is no need to be so in your face
- by all means give the people your thoughts but there is absolutely no need to be rude.

Red_Turbo wrote:I personally feel that i bought my mr2 because i realised the capabilities of the car with its power, handling and styling.in my mind i bought it with the intention like most people on here to develop these areas in my own way with modifying the suspension so it handles how i want it to, tuning up the engine to make people in cars like ferraris and porches cringe as i overtake them.
i finally bought it to style it in an areo dynamic way with a kit that emphasises this and still make it identifyable as and mr2.
I think thats how most people on here think as well.i feel that people that buy an mr2 to put a ferrari kit on it are missing the purpose of owning an mr2 and didnt buy the car with these intentions in the first place.
this is why i think that its hard for people like me and the majority of people on here to support them.
i get curious when i see an mr2 with an imitation 355 kit on it and its not because im thinking i wonder what the owner does for a living or because i think it looks amazing because it is usually quickly identifiable as an mr2.i think why has that person chosen to spend all that money doing that to his car, why cant they see the potential it had and made all us other owners green with envy.

Bear in mind

Problem with forums is, some idiot posts a pic of his Ferrari kitted MR2 with something like the first BAD design where the headlights are far up the bonnet and the backend looks like a block of cheese, and like most forums people follow the old threads just saying the same thing over and over even if they haven't seen the latest changes to the kits..
.
The new kits that are coming out now even go as far as lengthening the front of the car to make the EXACT size of the real thing and most of the panels have been moulded from the real thing.![]()
Check out www.extreme-cars.co.uk they are simply amazing.
Lets say you see a GT40 replica, I bet people on here would be like"now thats cool" so why not a decent looking Ferrari replica?

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You obviously just cannot see what people are saying can you? Mate, the problem is nothing to do with the quality of the kits.I dont care if it's mm perfect with stitch perfect interior parts.
The point is, and the point thats been made is, it very very sad to pretend to have something you do not.
I cant understand why people dont get it.
It is EXACTLY the same thing as buying a fake D&G top or Gucci watch, EXACTLY.
Maybe a bit worse as youre having more to do with the creation of it.
QWhy do you think Ferrari have presecut4ed people in the past for these thigs.
Fact is.

you cannot afford a Ferrari sportscar therefore you feel it is ok to rip of the work of ferrari and make a fake based upon an MR2.![]()

As for GT40s etc, I do feel this is a bit defferent only because the cars are pretty much extinct.
there3 are a handful of real GT40s left and next to no real cobras or lotus 7s.
These are historic sports cars which are not likely to be seen at all if it were not for these replicas.
and besides most of the replicas i ahev seen have been based upon new chassis and spaceframes therefore putting them into the truwe kitcar category rather than the bodykitted MR2 one.
hope this makes it a little clearer, try taking off the fake Raybans!![]()

That post was possibly the dumbest post so far.![]()
You basically backed up what i said in my last post.
![]()
GT40s are ok but not a Ferrari rep?!
MR2 Turbos as STANDARD down the 1/4 are pulling late 13's compared to a 355s time of around mid 13s.
.
.
.not very supercar now is it?

![]()
Its not about immitating an old
(and these days) slow supercar, its about the respect to the Ferrari styling and being able to run a car thats easily maintainable.
![]()
Anyway I can see arguing points like this over a forum is clearly a waste of time as the
'followers' will always keep saying
"OH MY GOD ITS CRAP, GET A FAKE TRD KIT INSTEAD"
![]()
![]()
![]()
Look at me in my fake TRD, there was only 35 made you know!!

p.s.![]()
*Obviously meant as a joke as i'm still a big fan of the TRD, fake or real*
