All the engine parts should be bought by you. and you don't need conrods

If Jordan is thinking big turbo and injectors etc to support it, IMO he's better off doing the full forged build now rather than paying to have forged rods installed later down the line. Will be more cost effective in the long run.

Don't agree with that personally. If they are supplying and fitting the parts then you're dealing with one company if something goes wrong. The contract is between Jordan and the builder only.

Dropping the engine yourself and just giving them the engine to build would probably save a chunk of cash if you could do that. Yeah rods aren't necessary but tbh the a large chunk of that is labor.

Rogue have always been pretty expensive anyway, not saying they do bad work however.

I wanted to use Wosser pistons rather than Wiseco or any other make, as Wosser are consider one of the best. There is also no mention of compression ratios either.

I went to Wosser direct to buy mine, OEM conrods are good for way over 500bhp.

yeah 10 hours to put an engine back in and install a fuelpump seems a bit much for a big garage with proper lifts and that

If it was me, I would want the builder to go to Wossner to buy them.

I've just spoken with Rogue Motorsports , as expectedly he defended
His price and broke it down over the phone explaining the estimate. "He's
Built this engine to this spec many times before" but 5k is out of my price
At the moment.

Again however he mentioned if I provided detailed breakdowns from both Abbey and Nispro he would try to match their prices as I advise they had estimated around 2.5 - 3k !

Guess I'll have to see once they supply, which way I'm going to go.

I've heard great things about Rogue, but...38+ hours is excessive. I second that on keeping the stock rods, nothing wrong with them for what you're aiming for. Try not to get sucked into the route of spending on and fitting parts for a future potential that you might not have any intention of following through on, I personally only award kudos points for parts that are used if fitted, not just for the build list boast.

Ask Pete the same quote chap ;-)

I started with rogue but quickly stepped away from the bonkers quotes.

£46 for running in oil? I.e wilko mineral oil... bonkers!

Pete charged 67 for pump. They want 102. All parts are basically +20-30% for sourcing.

100% do rods..... trust me if you go bigger later on you'll kick yourself for not sending 300 quid on it. Also IMHO u think it adds further sale value. I wouldn't want a forged block without them.

Pete will have your car over a year doing it though!

If you're not going for 500+BHP no point doing rods! Why fit something that's not needed. It's like saying i'll fit a huge clutch when all i want to run is a stock turbo....... save your hard earned money.

depends how much abuse you intend of giving it on the track
mind you i now run a billet td06, and will likely have to go down this route at some point, so keeping in the loop on this thread.

personally, id prefer to just build my own, although its tempting to go via a specialist, they will still take 2-3months minimum, id rather be 2-3months in my own garage saving money and learning a skill.

still, depends whats happening in your life, no kids for me yet.

Ha yeah if you plan to track it then buy a beefy clutch.

The specialist near me turns them around in a couple of weeks............ in fact every time i've taken my car there it's always done before the time frame agreed.

Simon at YVS is the guy who built George Lawtons 750bhp
car Isn't he ? might be worth getting an idea on build prices from him.
A mate and very competent mechanic has offered to take out and re-install
the engine once built if I wanted to go that route.

Yorkshire is a fair journey from me, but where there's a will there is a way.

Am chasing up Nispro tomorrow and as mentioned will give Abbey the chance
to match if they can.

In regards to forged rod's , I'm still undecided , I don't expect to go over 500+
but who know's. I kinda had 400bhp as my goal but at the moment am happy
with just F**KING driving my car at 320BHP full stop lol

If you take the engine out yourself then it's just a van rental / borrow and a long day trip... Could be done!
