Would be very interested to know which wheels are lightest Barron :thumleft:

Have one of my rear Roadster wheels off @ the mo

6.5 x 15 with 205/50 Avon ZV3 about half worn

About 15 kg according to my bathroom scales :)

Will be having some new tyres soon so want to find the separate weights of the wheel & tyre while I have the chance

Lightest I've got and I'd imagine one of the lightest you'll get without going silly expensive or rare.

14" Rays Engineering GRN's with 175/60 rubber weigh 12.6 kg's. :thumleft:
Shame I have not found some decent track rubber for these

Also weighed these.

17" Compomotive MO's with 245/40 rubber - 19.7 kg's
Have some with 205/ rubber also, but not weighed them.

Still to weigh are a mk1a alloy, a 15" TSW alloy and I might pop a 17" MG alloy.

Those roadster wheels are pretty light, id expect the alloy itself is around 5kg, I'm officially looking for some now :). Been offered some with decent tyres for £170.

Havn't had the tyres off my roadster wheels yet Barron :(

My supplier wasn't able to get the tyres I wanted

Will weigh a wheel ASAP

Those Rays seem good but I prefer 15" really

Probably forged rather than cast alloy (the kind that bends rather than shatters if you hit a kerb) :?:

Getting a set of Grams or Volks in the correct size, PCD & offset would be a good trick if I could pull it off I think

On another subject, do you have the shim bank at the mo ?

Not to worry about weighing the rim, ballpark figure of 5kg's is accurate enough for me and is pretty good for a 15" rim of that width. Coupled with the fact you can pickup a set for £100ish and replace broken/bent ones easily has me sold.

That said I'm still on the hunt for optimal wheels, the rays 14" rims were a impulse buy and a compromise really as they are not wide enough to plant 185rwhp :eye:.

I imagine they would suit a 4age engined, road car well though.

For me tyre choice dictates 13" or 15" and at least 6.5 up to 7.5 wide really. I really want some Watanabe wheels lol

I sent the shim bank onto another IMOC member, 'Gordy75' who confirmed recieving them them in Oct, 2010.
