No, Cyrix hasn't paid yet. If you have any other contact details and could chase him that would be great.

Adapters should be ready middle of this week so I'd ideally like to pay for them as soon as they're done rather than keep the machine shop and everyone else waiting.

I will send him a text message right away!

BTW, do you or anyone else know how wide discs the oem rear calipers with new pads will allow? will 25mm work or even 26 or will that not fit?

Cheers mate, much appreciated.

No the rears are 22mm and there is no give on that unless you trim the pads. Not a recommended route really.

MR2 is 22, but the RX8 discs are 24mm, thats why wondered if its possible to squeeze in 1 or 2 mm more :)

Sorry you're right, the RX8 is 24mm. From what I remember that was about the max it would take. I didn't try any larger because these were the most suited size disc.

Also, the adapters have been designed to work with them. If you use a 26mm disc you will need to ensure that the disc offset and hat thinckness/mounting depth and centre hole is also correct for the adapters. I don't think the gains that you'd get in heat capability out of an additional 1 or 2mm of material would be worth the hassle of finding another suitable disc, unless they were custom made, but then costs would increase significantly I would imagine.

As i dont use my car on the track much at all but just drag race it, this upgrade is 50% for stopping and 50% for the looks :)

Why i wonder about this is because i was thinking about getting a second set of supra discs for the rear and just mill them down to 24mm. But was hoping that i would get away with 25 or 26mm as this will keep more meat left on the discs :)
If i go with 24mm this will still give me 6.5mm left on each side of the disc, oem rear thickness is about 8mm on each side. And as i dont take my car to the track and that larger discs will generate less heat and clamping force to get it to stop i think this will be ok.

by removing 3.5mm on one side and 2.5 on the other (there is about 1 mm more material on one side of the discs) i will get the right disc height to.
This also means i dont have to use any adapter rings at all for the rear disc and milling discs down is pretty cheap to.

IF the discs get a height that is to larger (more than 45-46mm RX8 size), wouldnt it just be possible to put a washer between the hub and adapter bracket to get it further away from the disc in case its rubbing slightly?

Hey, someone have to try new stuff..that will be me ;)

So back to the question, you think 25mm will be a very thight fit, almost impossible?

I would be surprised if you can get the supra discs to work with these adapters. I honestly can't see the point in putting the extra work in. Believe me the bite that these have from 140+mph is very impressive. I never managed to track mine, but others have and there has been no mention of fade. If drag racing and road driving is what you'll be focused on I wouldn't bother with the extra work involved to get a supra disc on the back. Honeslty, there will be no noticable benefit.

If you really want to look into an alternative disc, I would look at getting some floating discs in the the stock Supra TT/RX8 sizes. These will reduce the unsprung weight which will be better for your drag racing and look even better. :thumleft:
