Although there haven't been updates on here properly in the last 6 months or so I'm still alive and kicking!! Lol. My house renovation is going well and is keeping me nicely busy when combined with the 80-90 hours per week that I do at work lol.

What's happened to the car then.... Well the engine isn't out or stripped yet, but I've been promised that its on it way out soon. So I'm hoping that there will be pictures up here soon  lol

Whilst the car has been away I've been buying a few bits and bobs for it to keep my interest going...

Obviously I've got Phil's amazing custom led heater panel in the car which I can't wait to see in the flesh. I've also got an original flare and flare holder sat at Peter's waiting to go in my car \:D/

I've also got the following parts waiting to go in when I get it back:
Alcantara centre cubby box
Alcantara gear gator
Alcantara handbrake gator
Custom VVTI V6 rub strip transfers :D

I've also bought a few cheap bits to read recently or just because they caught my fancy lol. You will have to excuse the poor photo quality!

I first bought a rare Toyota panel protector:

I also bought a few more MR2 books:

Oh and some MR2 magazines:

I actually have a huge box full of mr2 collectables, literature and folders of my service history! I'm hoping to have enough to start a second box soon. I'm on the look out for a few missing MR2 only magazines from my collection and am contemplating buying some of the boxed airfix style models as well :D

I think that's all that's happened recently. I've got loads of plans for EOR when I get her home though.....

As always there are potentially a few more purchases in the pipeline - overdraft limit allowing of course! Lol.

Both Peter and I have seen it, so you're only the third person to see the new part for your car :clown:

Oh Adrienne has seen it too, so make that fourth :jocolor:

Thank you very much. I do try :thumleft:

Well it's only a tiny update but Peter has had both engine hooks/hangers specially ordered in from Toyota Japan. They took a long old time to get here but it should be worth it, these will make the process of the engine lift from the Lexus a lot easier and more controlled and should ensure that nothing gets broken in the process :thumleft:

These are rarer than hens teeth but ensure the best job possible :D

Image

Engine removal and proper heavy work should begin tomorrow :D

That seems like an unnecessary spend! Hahaha. Won't a normal hook suffice?

Not really... Its worth having the proper tools for the job. It would be sods law if the engine slips whilst being dropped in and gets damaged because it isnt properly balanced. This engine is really surprisingly big and we are trying to do everything perfectly and not trying to just deal with what we have got.

If parts need replacing, we need new parts or there is a small wait then so be it. This engine will be perfect and have a proper OEM removal, strip down and fitting. I'm trying to lavish this car with as much attention to detail as possible hence why Peter is doing my overhaul for me. It's important to me that everything is done as best as possible using only the best parts.

Well one hook is fitted and the other is meant to be fitted today, engine is still in situe but should be removed asap... When I know more I will update the thread :thumleft:

Both engine hooks are secured, all engine ancillaries etc have been removed and the engine is ready to be picked out of the Lexus for its all important overhaul

Peter has cleaned up a different set of rev1 rear arms and polybushed them ready to go on EOR when the engine is out. It saves a bit of time this way. Photos will be posted of this soon.

Even better - the engine hoist should be delivered today so with an luck by the end of the day I should have a solid V6 lump ready to be worked on... I'm all excited now \:D/

As some of you may or may not have read I'm currently led up and off work for a short period of time with some broken ribs. This gives me the perfect opportunity to do more engine research, parts research and also put more items in my "ready to fit to the car" box for when I get it home. Pictures will be added to this post of the parts as they arrive to prove I've actually got them (and so I can remember what I've bought! Lol)

So far my to fit list is looking like this:
Alcantara centre cubby box
Alcantara gear gator
Alcantara handbrake gator
Custom VVTI V6 rub strip transfers
Rev3 resprayed hook windscreen wipers
Bosh Super plus spoiler wipers
New fan S60 washer jets
Chrome interior handles

I've also bought some more reading material, I've got some more MR2 only magazines coming but I'm more excited about one thing in particular. This time its in the form of a very rare limited edition Japanese publication covering the development of the MR2 and some of its features... Some of the adverts are cracking! For example - did you know that Toyota produced a set of sunglasses to go with their MK2 range?! Seriously!

Anyway here it is to give you an idea. The task in my bored state now is to translate the Japense

You get the idea :thumleft:

Hopefully there will be some great photos from Peter later of an engine hanging in mid air :D
I'm now off to research forged internals on the 1MZ VVTI engine. Guess what my future plans may be
