just an idea about the spare bulbs, i'm thinking its pretty useful to have at least one spare, is it worth a suggestion of HID Kit + 1 spare bulb = £145 as a group buy ?

That's a good thought, but seeing as they're £15 quid each - I don't think we can get the pair for £10! I would be interested to know what the supplier would offer for those of us that wanted to buy a pair of spares as well as the kit though...

Deffo a good idea to get spares.... I'd be interested in another set if we could get them for a reasonable amount with this group buy. If not £15 isnt to bad tho.

Hi guys, thought I'd offer a little help with Kelvin ratings of HID bulbs.

My HID's are 4300k, same as fitted to new cars. The light output is very white and the road illumination is awesome. Most people go for 6000k as the light output has a nice blue tint to it. Looks really nice from the outside, but this will be offset by reduced illumination of the road ahead. TBH if I need a new bulb at some point, I'll get 6000k's as I'm a bit of a tart anyway :eye: I've noticed a few of you want to get 8000k units. I really cant recommend these as the illumination drops off alot, so you really wont feel safe driving on unlit roads your unfamiliar with.

Fitting in a MR2 is straight forward. Ballasts in the frunk and then feeding the bulbs wires through a small split made in the grommet that passes through the bulkhead on either side of the car. Make sure the ballasts are wired directly to the battery via a relay switch that's activated by the OE bulb wiring looms (the supplier can confirm if this is the way the kit is designed). Without this the igniters will draw excess current through the stock loom. When this happens normally just 1 off the globes will arc and start (a problem suffered by lots of the guys on the US forum). You'll need to modify the rubber boot on the rear of the headlamp as the back of the HID globe is a totally different shape.

Full warm-up will be achieved in about 10 seconds. Would be interesting if your supplier could offer a Bi-Xenon kit for a small surcharge. These will give an awesome, instant, main beam light output by use of a moving shroud above the HID globe.

Julian, Rev6 lamps use a H7 lamp. Hopefully the supplier can cater for you too at no extra charge. If anything the H4 stock lamps use is more awkward and potentially more expensive to make.

One things for sure, once these are fitted you'll all be chuffed to bits with them. Keep your lamp glass clean and correctly aligned so as not to p1$$ off to other road users. Those with hard suspension will be flashing the car infront when you hit bumps but there's nothing you can do about that.

Pic whore as ever...

Pete,
Are you saying that 4300k are the brightest? If this is the case I may go for these instead...

Speedy, is there any upper limit on the order? I may be getting two...

Colour Temperature / Lumens (Brightness)

4300k / 3100Lm

6000k / 2900Lm

8000k / 2500Lm

10000k / 2300Lm

12000k / 2000Lm

Please note: most customers have a common misconception that the higher the K (Kelvin temperature) the brighter it gets, but in fact, it is the opposite. The K rating is inversely proportional to the light output, therefore the lower the K the brighter the light output.

Dont look as trick but yes 4300k is brighter. Any lower and the colour starts to go yellow.

Yes Bi-Xenon. The clunk is the shroud doing its work.

Speedy, can you enquire about this type? If they can do it and how much extra? Can they do some with and some without in the 10 or so purchases if not everyone wants this type?

Thanks :)

How noticeable is the 'clunk' in normal driving ?

Cant hear it at all.. in the vid my phone was resting between the headlamps, so it picked the noise up easily.
