It all seems like a huge waste of money AND it'll probably de-value the car any way.

dude, were talking about the red one for sale, STOCK engine (with non trd mods), trd kit.....
were not talking about a car like toniis, which is trd all over and werth loads.....
the red one is prob werth half that being older, and stock-ish engine wise....

and jurgens isnt orginal...

I think paying £8K for an original TRD car and giving it a special engine would be an excellent way to go. :)

Speedmaster - you just have to wait for them to come up, which is rarely!

I agree with Goldy.... Do it Do it!!

Your taking a rare TRD and making it into a 'one of a kind'! If done right you can only be increasing the value of the car!.

If the engine hasn't been blueprinted or modded etc.. etc.. which everyone seem to say it hasn't, then I see no problem. Its the chasis which is rare, the stock engine isn't.

I think by chasis he means shell :?

No idea what suspension etc has been fitted.

The idea of supercharging is very tempting, as is twincharging but then the costs get astronomical!! Not to mention the amount of available space and complications etc

In my opinion no one knows the trd is rare unless they are car fans. Either fit a widebody to yr car matt which i wouldnt do as its looking spanking or spend the money on the camry engine. it rare to see a kitted 2 in yr colour i think it looks nice enough. Alternativley id spend the money trying to get a mk2 spyder. Crap with the roof on but rare and impressive with a subtle kit.

The problem with building a TRD Spyder is that people can see you when driving, ie you need to be pretty not make small children cry! :D

I have to say if I had the choice id stick to either tin top or t-bar rather than a spyder.

They just look a bit wrong with the roof up! (zips up flame proof suit)

I disagree since the engines could be standard, that's like saying modding an engine on a TRD car with a stock 3sgte engine is sacrelidge.

Go for it I say.

Oh and who said a TRD spyder would look naff?

Thanks ENSMR2

Thai boxer - Its not got a TRD engine! ](*,)

Understandable if it were a dribble worthy monster power, shiney, high spec, blueprinted 24 valve tangerine XR7i rocket powered TRD Lump with all the bells and whistles, but its not, its a tubby engine and as fantastic as the spec on this one looks as a starting point, the idea was simply to build an engine to a spec, (be that tubby or camry) worthy of this fantastic car.

And breathe :D

Mate,

If it was a real TRD with a stock engine then why not go v6 supercharged. You'd be the only one.

The above are basically saying modding a genuine TRD with a stock engine would be wrong. How? I bet they wouldnt actually bat an eyelid at that though. Only the engine swap.

So if it is genuine with stock engine or TRD with stock engine do it.

I'd say if it was a genuine TRD it may increase value for being the 1st and only.

yes precisely, its a genuine TRD car with a standard engine, so i think your spot on.

Oh well I have a week on hol next week to seriously think about this. And sweet talk the missus. I anticipate much daring acrobatics and climbing up to balconys with roses in teeth / cadburys milk tray etc in order to woo said lady into releasing the funds
