I've never had an issue with grip on mine when it's dry. Running 1.1 bar on a rev 3 engine with 195 tyres and it doesn't even wheelspin in 1st on hard launches at the drag strip or when having fun on the roads.

Redone the rear gearbox mount after it snapped (came with the car)
Was never over happy with it anyway
Made it shallower so now the engine sits more level than before and th annoying rattle I had has gone ;)

A rev3 turbo in a MK1 with 1.1 bar must be mental

That my plan for spring is rev3 conversion
But even a rev2 upped boost is stupidly quick

been busy here...
its been on show at the NEC.. after a day of talking about it all i wanted to do was drive it..
went on show on the thursday eventually got it out sunday eve was a great show and it got loads of attention

Image
Image

after that last weekend
had to get ready for bedford track day this weekend
first was new camcover gasket.. so stripping down
Image
also fitted a "taz"
Image

Tested the DB, came out at 106db, quite a bit more than the 101 allowed
so guy at work made this up for me
Image

fitted and got it down to 101.2db, which to be honest is cutting it a bit fine..
then i find this

Image
okay not a massive deal but defo needs doing before tracking etc.. and it really needs new rear wheel bearings and 2 shocks are leaking, with it all adding up decided i should really wait untill I'm happy as overhauling suspension the week i come back anyway

so for the track day i am gonna use the mk1 na, which will still be a lot of fun.
but wanted to check the brakes on that..
quickly found this on the rear discs (of the na)
Image

so picked up new rear discs and pads all round.
they are already stripped off just refitting tomorrow along with new oil and coolant.. really looking forward to it..
gutted the 1.5 isn't coming but there will be plently of track time for it next year..

on a plus note these were bought for to fit to the 1.5 as well whilst im overhaulling it. that will be getting new discs and pads allround
Image

On a side note when doing the cam cover found 2 small vac leaks, 5th inkector came unplugged and managed to make the IC pipework a bit more solid,
also replaced the rear gearbox mount again for a large chunk of metal so no more bending that..
took it for a quick spin. so much smoother and quicker for getting rid of the 2 vac leaks...

will let ya know how the track day goes :)
