A couple more jobs sorted.

First up was fitting the custom flat undertrays which help reduce lift, especially combined with the rear diffuser. It's not secret that these Lotus 7 inspired cars have the aero properties of a house brick, especially above 70mph. Don't get me wrong though, the handling is superb. There are however a few ways you can improve things, this being one of them.

I ordered a bag of M5 25mm round headed (better for aero  ) bolts. Now they've come I'm thinking they're a tad too long, so the excess is just weight in my opinion. I've ordered some 12mm bolts to replace them, however wanted to fit the tray anyway.

Hung up, waiting to be fitted. There's a removable section where the Westfield dry sump sits. It's also vented to allow air to pass cleanly out of the bay.

Nature decided it was curious about what I was doing and offered to lend a hand :)

Fitted. Everything's nice and flat under there, which will reduce the parachuting effect the cars have by default.

Next up was to sort the NS front wing, as it had been knocked out of line during a meeting of car and cone at Blyton. No damage to the wing itself, the beauty of carbon fibre, however the mounts were slightly on the p***......

Not much clearance under there, so it has a habit of collecting stones and making a good awful noise

Some persuasion later..

Not perfect but much better. I'll need to whip them off and get it in a vice to get it spot on. It's close enough for now though :)

Next jobs are fitting the new exhaust and working out how the hell the Trickshifter is installed?! :-k I think it's seek some outside input for that, as terrible things could happen if done wrong :pale:

Looking really good there dude, watching this thread (and my passenger ride around Blyton) has got me really thinking about taking the red one off your hands. Damn life getting in the way!

Still, I can see me having something like this in the garage some time next year. Shame it'll probably have a Ford engine in it though!

I've yet to finish the ad for it yet  Been too busy with the Busa.

It's still yours if you want it and at a much better price then I'll be offering it to the masses for :thumleft:

That was my original intention, however at a total cost of £30 as opposed to £3 delivered I decided I couldn't justify it for about 80g. I could not have a glass of water before taking it out and save 4 times that  The 12mm ones will be lighter

It would have been lighter though wouldn't it? - I want to plant that evil thought in your mind - that for a measly £27.00 more it could have been just that bit lighter ( like your wallet ) - its much more fun than guilt tripping you over castle combe !

There's currently better things to spend £27 on than little bits of Ti. I wished I'd thought that way when I had my old DH mountain bike, which consumed about £8k in the pursuit of lightness and strength :o It was a brute of a thing though.

Hmm, thats odd - I am currently scouring the local ads. for a mountain bike as we speak - but not an 8k one though  8k on a mountain bike - really? I know they can be expensive but thats a shocker to say the least - but then again I am 50 this year so anything more than £5.00 is expensive to me according to my apprentice.

Shame on you, Martin, trying to make a man spend money on cars. We all know men hate spending money on cars

MB - can you outline the difference in performance statistics between this Busa engined beasty and the Westy? Which engine was in Westy?

Engine wise or as a complete car?

The Westy is running (can you tell I'm doing the sale ad at the moment  ):

Fiat Lampredi 2.0 Twin Cam .
Recently rebuilt within the past 500 miles.
Gas flowed 'Volumex' head with 43.5/36mm valves.
Bogg Brothers R1 Carb conversion, now running 160 main jets and Dynojet needles
Piper BP300 high lift 290deg 'Rally' cams
New High compression 84.4mm domed pistons giving 11:1CR
Guy Croft uprated head gasket
Guy Croft 12:9 race head bolts
Guy Croft oil pump
New std size big ends
New tensioner bearing
New gasket set
Alloy velocity stacks (red) - for improved air flow into the carbs
Pipercross air filter and custom back plate, fitted 200 miles ago
Competition adjustable vernier pulleys
Stainless steel bespoke 4-1 headers and system by PD Gough
Tuned by Torque Tune. Now running circa 170bhp @ wheels (7000rpm), with potentially more to be had after another a further tuning session.
Facet fuel pump - Filter cleaned 200 miles ago
Malpassi fuel pressure regulator and filter - Filter replaced 200 miles ago

The new car (MK Indy) is running a gen1 Hayabusa engine and is making similar power.

The Westy when on cam was a very quick little car!

Haha, yes, I stand corrected :thumleft:

Whoever buys it is getting a good little car. There's still plenty of tinkering left to be done on it, allowing the new owner to stamp their mark. I'm simply not in the frame of mind these days to want to do it, outstanding jobs haunt me

Lets face it Phil, even with a bit of 'tinkering' left to do, whoever buys the westy is going to get a great car given your level of mechanical and visual ocd.

Another one of the snagging list ticked off...

The braided lines and the copper lines they married up to were attached to the frame on the copper side, however the braided side wasn't secured to anything. Time to change that..

As it was.

A quick session with Mr Dremel and Mr Spanners later.

I also threw together a quick clip of the sound of the Busa running it's current exhaust. I'm planning on swapping over to the Westfield can I have soon so wanted to have something to compare it to, sound wise.
