If we hadn't had to marshal, Mark would have been out all day doing pics. Shame really, but being two marshals down meant we all had to muck in.

He's just got a new uber lens so yesterday was his first time using it. Reckon with some practice he'll be turning out some very good pics.

Danny you know that 107 is 66% or so louder than 105... basically noise doubles for every 3db. What was it with the baffle in?

When Jonny did a noise test on the Escort he said that when it was popping and banging it was reading 106db... it cleared up though (98.6db) when I revved through it and held it a bit higher. Didn't realise it was that loud

Carbs are always a bu66er for that though - especially when you try and keep the same revs.

I had a fantastic weekend! Got back from our B&B in Dunnington at about 12:30 this afternoon.

Thanks to Lauren, BaT and Ben for organising such a brilliant event.
A Big thanks to all those that gave me passenger rides (Ben, Tom, Anna, Alex, Chris). A special big thanks to Chris who let me take his Mica Blue MKI out on my own on my very first track day =D> I was glad to have Anna in the passenger seet giving me pointers, but after spinning on the corner before the first straight, I kinda lost my bottle a bit seeing as it wasn't my car I was driving and didn't want to knacker it in any way!!!

It was also good meeting new and old people - Phil who I gave my spot to, Phil who has offered me a complete replacement suspension unit, John who supplied me my engine, Dannyw - who I pulled out on on the way into elvington (at least I think it was you???) - sorry again chap  And Mark who never remembers speaking to me at previous events :P  (what an impression I must make! LOL!)

Anna/Alex I hope you guys get things sorted easily with the focus soon. I hope the theiving toe-rags get caught and get what they deserve

Now my car WILL be ready for the next track day! Thanks for the offers of replacement complete suspension units Phil/Lauren 8)

Got back an hour ago (stayed overnight!), cracking day, thanks to all who organised :)
Thoroughly impressed with the mk1, I was fully expecting parts to drop off from my one after a day driving at redline but it didn't so much as use a drip of oil (well, aside from going through to the canvas, but that's down to me being a tit ;) ) - huge fun to drive too.
Looking forward to the next one, I think I'd prefer a 'real' circuit next time, a bit easier on the tyres for one, although the airfield was a superb place for me to pop my 'Trackday' cherry :)

You need some P6000s. I started with 6mm of tread and only the rear left wore to below the legal limit and that was on the outer edge only.

I didn't check my pressures tbh, so I think they were a bit high, which probably helped the wear rate. And I certainly didn't have enough power to get them spinning apart from on the left hander before the chicane (and that was only that left rear).

Just to echo everyone's sentiments really - massive thanks to Lauren & all involved in organising and running the day (BaT, marshalls, et al) and providing a fantastic day out :)

Had the most fun I've had in a long time, even though I wasn't as fast as some of the Roadster boys (Lee - red roadster - is an absolute loon  ), but still had fantastic fun. Held back a bit as I can't afford new tyres, but the Toyo's stood up very well with hardly any wear (yes, yes, I just wasn't trying hard enough  )..

Anyway - thanks to all involved once more :) And nice to meet those I met, and sorry I didn't get to meet the ones I forgot to text due to alcohol  I blame the other ROC people, honest! ;)

Just finally home now after Elvington and spending today wandering around York.

Well Done to Lauren =D> for putting in all the work arranging the trackday - seeing it through start to finish - your efforts are appriciated!

I know at last minute you had to sub in and do some marshalling for BaT rather than taking part in the trackday and catching up with people as you'd hoped - lets hope the next one runs more smoothly.

I have to say that IMO it was the best IMOC trackday we've had so far - the standard of driving was excellent, Open Pitlane worked really well and hopefully everyone who had not done a trackday in their '2 really enjoyed it. Other than people collecting the odd cone, I don't think anyone had any serious problems with their cars which is good news :)

I've already been talking to Lauren as to where we could go for the next IMOC trackday - potentially it will be a 'safe' track, now people have had chance to build up some trackday experience on an airfield - more of that through in another post.

I've also got a load of Video footage - both from the car and thanks to Dale some of the cars and people in the paddock. I'll be looking through it and editing it up over the coming week, with it being ready some time next weekend.

Belatedly, I'd like to say thanks to Lauren, IMOC Admins & members and BaT who made it possible. Despite the best efforts of West Yorkshire police, you managed to keep our spirits up.

Our new toy was on it's first outing, and stood up to the punishment very well indeed - the only thing to fail was the stereo, it's now stuck on track 1 of the CD which was in the drive, and refuses to eject, turn off or change volume...

I managed to grab a ride with Limey which was great, and I gave a few other people some rides as well - sorry, but i've already forgotten your names - I hope you enjoyed it :)

I had to bail out onto the grass after snatching a wheel under breaking, span twice with Sarah in the car (at pretty high speed), I think I scared the guy in the ITR behind me (Dom?), by seeing if it's possible to keep up with the elise.. driver not good enough on that occasion. The second time, I was following BenF, and coming out onto the back straight, I was getting a good run for the straight, when Ben aborted the corner and drove straight on through the cones.. I lifted, which was a *very* silly thing to do, and put the car into a spin at about 70.. whoops..

I also managed to make Lauren adopt crash position (by snatching a wheel in the same place), and Scream (a little) when I mullered the cones through the last complex :) Still, I hope the car managed to impress, despite my driving!

I forgot that Goto10 had Si Cooks old car - I was the guy parked next to you (with the SC), and I still have yet to meet the elusive mr megaboost. Would have been good to see how your LFS stiles translate into the real world

Geez, I've just read that again.. i'm not normally a hooligan!!

<added>
Great pics Shish!! shame about being stuck out working all day, good job with the flags though!

This is our new toy :

Heh heh, I've been hearing about that from Sarah - I was trying some different lines through that corner, and on that occasion decided it wasn't working out and baled out straight on through the cones.

I can remember hearing the sound of tortured tyre rubber and as I headed off down the straight - Sarah said it felt like you managed a full 720 :thumright:

Well, just remember not to follow my lines next time - they're generally rubbish and are only good for goonage (!)

Yeah, Steve was very quick in it, and found some very good lines around the track quickly :)

and I still have yet to meet the elusive mr megaboost. Would have been good to see how your LFS stiles translate into the real world

I think he was driving the Escort - that wasn't slow either!

720, possibly, we ended up facing the right direction anyway - Toyo 888s are fantastic for outright grip, but when they break away (i.e. when the driver runs out of skill) you are travelling pretty quick...

I wasn't really following the line, I would have been later on the apex, but nevermind.

BTW, nice flames out of the exhaust on the way into the chicane, I said to Sarah that I didn't want to get too close, cos we'll get toasted next time you change down!!

Just wanted to add my thanks too to Lauren and everyone else involved in making it an absolutely cracking day.

I was with my brother Chris (ChrisW) in his MK2 NA G-Ltd and we had a great time. Next time I'll bring mine down too I reckon! Chris had rigged up a video camera (all screwed down!) in the car so we'll have to see about putting a clip up. We finally sorted out the feedback from the mic so I dare say there'll be some nice sound effects too!

Big thanks to everybody involved in the organising of the event & so glad I managed to go in the end it was a fantastic day.
Who was the guy who spun on the sighting lap? Having said that they were quite fast laps.
The best thing is the wife had a great day as well, she certainly started pushing the car more & more as the day progressed. =D>
I nearly lost it on the first right hand bend (the one Lauren span big style on) but managed to just catch it. The wife replied, “do that again & I am getting out”. Yea right. #-o
So I didn’t push too hard what with tyre wear, that’s my excuses & I am sticking to it!
I did try to keep up with Steve (Goto10) but he was fast & he told me it was his first track day.
Roll on the next one.

That would be me #-o .I thought the sighting laps got a little quick within the first three, trying to learn the course lay out at 70mph is a bit difficult but basically is was my inexperience that caused it,but at least i got it over with early on :D

Believe me they had zero grip when they started to get bad. In fact it was getting nigh on impossible to hold the car in a decent slide due to the lack of progression with no rubber on the tyre! ;)
