Hi All

John the Northwest chap here, my area is quite large, North Cheshire to Lake District and Blackpool to the Pennies.

My mailing list has sixty members on it's circulation.

However I get around six to eight Mk1's attending meets, so 10%ish.

But I have seen over 15 MK1's not bad I suppose.

Personally I think club area organisers are a good thing, It's not just meets and shows, it's also a local point of contact.

I get lots of new owners and members who need hands on help, advice and experience when looking at potential Mk1 purchases or repairing problems.

Yes, I know that we can offer help here, but I do get a lot of members who don't know IMOC exists.

I've got to admit, I don't organise enough runs/shows/track events etc.

but there is nothing stopping the members doing that, and I'm very grateful when they do!

However it can get very dis-heartening to sit in a pub car park on a wintery Sunday afternoon holding a meet, on your own.

.

but I decided to hold meeting at a fixed time of the month to gain a consistent presence.

I sympathise with Ian, these above Sundays do dampen my enthusiasm, but the sunny days when ten appear make it all worthwhile.

But don't all clubs have similar situations? I can't see 100% or even 50% of members ever turning up to a meet.

sorry for the ramble.

.

John Redmond
