me too,i often do that at roundabouts.other drivers are not impressed though.as for the audi i expect he thought he had proved his point and was expecting you to go flying off up the road in your
"boy racer car" as he would think of it

Re: Audi 'experience'
Turning right at a roundabout and going all the way round instead of going left is a great way to negotiate a queue because it is
safe
to do this unlike turning left from the right hand lane, even if there are two lanes on the exit.

The

I think my bad experiences of TDis is down to the huge number of them I see on my commute
- normally driven by people in a rush.

It seems that any oil burner with over 250 lb/ft of uber-torque seems to imbue its driver with an"I own the road" attitude.
They're generally the sort of t0ssers that turn left from the right hand lane at a rounabout in order to queue-jump.

what? ive got an audi tdi and use a beemer tdi and i dont think like that.

but that aside.

Re: Audi 'experience'

I've driven a few Tdis and they range from really bad to pretty good.

Re: Audi 'experience'
my golf tdi courtesy car went back today and im really sorry to see it go.
i got in my mr2 and when i accelarated i thought
"where has all the power gone!"
it was only at the higher revs i remembered where the fun of the 2 becomes apparent.

personnally i'd have the golf back in a shot, shame they're about
£13k more than the 2!!

Yeah, the 130bhp ones are effortless.

Re: Audi 'experience'
yeah it did occur to me that a tubby would tick more of the rev range boxes, i might have a look once my marriage is out of the way
- thats if i've got any money or free-will left.

Ahead the road goes from 2-to-1 so I left the lights pretty sharp to nip infront of him.
He did the same and hung on to around 60 leaving me nothing to do but brake, so I did only to find him matching my braking and leaving me no run-off!
I had the car stood on her nose to tuck in behind him at which point he then accelerated back up to the speed limit.
Dunno whether he was used to just leaving everything for dead(they are 5.7 to 60!!) or whether he thought I needed some lesson or another??
Well, I just thought he was a nob.

Am I right in thinking that it was

So you are side by side, he has right of way, he is in a lane he can continue on.

You floor it.

You're used to thinking you can beat everything off the lights.

To repeat: He has right of way, he is in a lane he can continue on.

Can you elaborate a little more why it is

Re: Audi 'experience'
I knew I was being cheeky, he matched me so I thought
'fair play' and started braking to allow him the right of way he has, and he just matched whatever I did preventing me tucking in behind him.
We got down to 15mph before I had finally outbraked him and was able to tuck in.

You are 100% right, he had right of way, that's why I yielded, but as he braked hard I thought that was on purpose to leave me with nowhere to go.
He had nothing infront of him in his lane, and we both left the people behind us for dead.

Now others have mentioned it, perhaps he was just thinking the same as me and after expecting to just pull clear found himself
(like me) in the wrong place at the wrong time and thought braking was what he should have done.
I dunno! I think I'll believe that since it's the nicest thing

More likely that he thought you were running out of room and didn't want side-swiped so stamped on the brakes to let you in front so he could then tailgate you and flash his high beams for the next 20 miles.

Most people's instinct is to brake out of danger as a first reaction.

This is true how does one over come hitting the brakes straight off?
