Lets face it, you can pretty much predict who'll be there. It'd be nice to be suprised by a huge turnout but I think Jo's Facebook account would be 90% accurate.

There are a couple of people going who didn't go last year.

Anyway maybe it shows that people are happy with how things are going ;)

Guys, due to a last minute change of circumstances i wont be able to make the AGM this year, i am disapointed as i like to be involved in club stuff & feel its important that the commitee are at least seen to make an effort to turn up, my appologies & hope you all have a fab day, see you all soon, Jinxy

Well, that was a good day out again! Learnt a bit more about the club, had a few questions answered, and decided to pop out the T-bars on the journey home! (Yup, I'm mad)

Shame the attendance wasn't huge, but I suppose that's the nature of the club. Either that or everyone is just really happy with how things are done so far...!

In summary:

tiny turnout - i guess people are happy with things, or happy to leave the running of the club and decision making up to the committee

The main report will be in the club magazine, rather than on a public forum, as its members only info.

great to see the active members and catch up with committee and area organisers.

the Gaydon motor museum was worth the visit too (apart from the cafe beign a tad expensive, but i was too hungry to care at the time!)

Good pic Max - maybe you could email a copy to stuart, as i don't kow if he took one

It might be intersting to know why people didn't come. Are they happy with the way the club is running, is it too far or have you just got better things to do? :)

We went the first year because we wanted to see how the club was run and what sort of input we could give. I got elected treasurer so I felt I had to attend this year to give my report in person and answer any queries. It's a very long way for us but it is rewarding to meet other members and hear their views as well as air our own.

Guys

I am sorry to hear that it was a poor turnout yesterday.

Just to far for me to attend being in the North East of Scotland.

Somtimes you have to try to do your bit in different ways.

I have written a couple of articles for the mag and run a highland trip this year (Article on its way to the Mag).

Is is difficult to get a location that suits everyone.

Then again i also think stating the obvious that people tend to just leave it to others and just reap the rewards.

I know that Susan & I have certainly met a lot of good friends in my 2 years in the club and for sure think the subs is worth it for that alone.

Hello everyone,

I didn't attend, but I posted my apologies in advance of the meeting. I hope my report was some contribution.
I had made sure the original date was clear however the change to September from October stuffed me. Would it be possible to arrange a date at the AGM for the next year?
I'm sure even I could manage to come along with a years advance notice

Thats a good question: maybe a simple questionaire circulated to all members would be a better medium for communicating the previous years status of the club and for club members to indicate any issues or desired future requests.

Personally I've no desire to travel 150+ miles to hear information that could easily be conveyed by far easier means. I take mild offence at the suggestion that non-attendee's are bone idle: I gladly pay a subscription to the club; yet chose the level of participation; as per the majority of subscribers.

Kev I am personally offended by this unworthy comment, you have let yourself an the Club down with this type of foolish comment
I was unable to attend due to my better half being discharged from hospital after major sugery on friday, I will of course point out her lazyness when she is well enough
my ar$e was infact out of bed and had been for more than 36 hours
there will be many personal reasons for non attendance, and as it was not mandatory for members to go then what do you think gives you the right to make such a statement?
I have in the past admired your commitment and envied your ability to attend so many club events
my opinion is now very different

Kev, your comment would have peed a few people off, such as kevin above who clearly had a genuine reason for not coming. However I'm sure your comment could be retracted for people such as him!! I was trying to put nicely in my previous post that I'm sure it isn't laziness that makes people not come.

I agree it is a long way, and I am now suffering for the long day I had as I am now ill from the lack of sleep I had at the weekend!

I have asked before that the location be changed but I can't expect it to be any closer for me, as we only have 18 members in the whole of East Anglia, so we don't have a very high percentage of members! We are so widespread that it would be impossible to have a location to please everyone. Which is a shame.

Yes, the information could be, and is, circulated by the magazine too, however we do have to have an official AGM as a club. Members are also very welcome to contact the committee at any time with suggestions.

The date of the next AGM was agreed, as it should be, at this years AGM. However this may be subject to change depending on room availability and other events. This will be reported in the magazine as it is members only information.

Hope that has answered some questions!

Kevin, I hope your wife is recovering well.

Vix - the point I was making is simply that I cannot understand the need to attend such a gathering, unless desired. Obviuosly it makes sense that commitee members attend if possible - but the idea that individual cclub members have let the club down by non-attendance is pointless IMO.

As for the club itself -like many I'm very grateful for the efforts of the individuals (inc the commitee- esp long standing members  ). Like many I contribute nothing to the club (I do point non-members in the right direction  ) - thus get little out. Again thats personal choice, down to location, other commitments et cetera. I do however pay a membership subscription, as I feel its the right thign to do regarding all the free help and advice remotely given via the club directly or on this IMOC hosted forum.

My concern is when individuals make a comment like that, many in the same situation as myself will feel sod it next time the subscription is due (no fear in my case as its direct-debit :thumleft: ). The many people who do not attend such occassions receive very little in this respect - which is fine as its in line with what their contribution. But maybe thats all 'club members' want or need is some reassurance regarding keeping their mk1 on the road: something at the heart of ALL mk1 enthusaists, whether long-standing in this community or not.

I agree with your last comment very much. And if you are happy with how things are going then the club is happy too :)

Phil and I originally joined the club basically so that we could park with a lot more Mk1s at shows! And I'm certain that many other members have joined for similar reasons.

Huw - its not just a case of conveying information (this can easily be done by post), its more a case of proposing and discussing new ideas and ways of taking the club forward. we need numbers to make fair discussions rather than the committee acting as a dictatorship. i would rather act based on a consensus rather than ploughing ahead with whatever i decide.

thanks Vix she should be fine given time

I genuinely didn't wish to air my own personal circs. on this forum, but was deply ofended
as ever my over riding thought is how does the Club look to the new/lesser active members or even potential members when comments like those posted are seen here
welcoming? not at all!! a sad day for the Club if this is the attitude put out by members

Kevin please don't take it personally (hope your other half is making a good recovery)
i 'think' it was said a bit tongue in cheek, as people who were there were dissapointed at the poor turnout
