i see where your coming from

i loved the dep2, but hated the fact that the pipework was mild steel, and the inevitable happened. its still in my garage and i have plans to resurect it one day. :)

think that the dep2 is very old, it came from japland with it on which was 6 years ago so its had good innings. not sure how long XS power have been selling for but i was under the impression that they are a fairly now company so i supose things like the exhausts havnt been on cars for years to judge in the same way.

they look good, seen nicks car at show and it look very good to me, so i the quality is as good as it looks then no one should have a problem with these :)

Ok then how do you justify the dep2 AT ALL if it costs more and is made from inferior materials?

Brand snobbery at it's very best IMO!

the boxes to the tail pipes are stainless but from boxes to cat is mild steel. you will find that with most propper jap exhausts thought as they dont put all the nasties on the road like we do.

guess the price is due to what price you buy them at in japland or something because they aint cheap new :)
look beautifull i think but full stainless is so much more bling.

I just think it's great how people willingly pay so much money for an inferior product and dont moan when it rots off the car. Yet something thats cheaper and made from better materials and looks as good if not better gets stick for what ever reason can be found!

Brand snobbery - I xxxx it.... \:D/

Look is all down to personal opinion which doesnt make any1 officially correct. I compared mine aginst my m8s dep 2 pro...mines louder... about a cm lower, better looking boxes imo and SS.

Names not everything from Japan...although a vast majority of goods are good quality stuff theres always a few things which eventually get surpassed over time, why dont you think no 1 ever buys a HKS IC for eg?

I did really love the dep pro 2 until i realised I thought the boxes started to look a bit dated a little. Then again thats just a personal opinion.

Heres mine and my m8s car...he has a dep 2 pro..

Because it costs £850 new lol. And the pipes are backwards, make your own and I hear it's a very good intercooler!

Matt i know exatlly where your comming from.

Mild steel is also used as its lighter but for the price diffrence i would rather take the hit on weight.

My HKS fell apart thats why i went to XS power

IMO the look will never be as good as the proper departure. Its the way the edges of the silencers are 'rolled', and the silencers are larger . Makes it look far more purposeful.
I know they rust, but I bought mine second hand and it must have been a good few years old then and after 4 years it was still going strong. I reckon you'd get 8 years out of a brand new dep2. =D>

took me three hours to fit but sorted now, i think.

the cat end holes on the flexi pipe (3 holes) were not aligned so well and needed drilling to make wider, but fits ok now. and one of the tail pipes is slightly mishaped.
#-o

all sorted tho, not as loud as the NUR, but quite grumbly all the same. :)

Brand new exhausts arent that loud strait away. Wait for the carbon and crap to build up in the baffle and make the air pass through quicker making it louder.

I bought the Japspeed version(Dep2 rep) for £245 brand new off ebay. Perfect fit(sits a little close to the rear cross member and towing eyes though). Sound literally turns me into a little boy dribbling(from many areas) with excitement, myself and other local petrol heads(including some driftworks boys) think it sounds like a cross between an FD3 RX7 and an RB engine. Its nuts, a little tiring on long journeys buyt man i love the sounds. Thats 3" downpipe as well though.

Just seen one of the XS exhausts today, it sat scarily close to the subframe when fitted and the welds looked a bit suspect too.

I guess you pays your money and takes the chance, looks nice and shiny and probably sounds well but don't expect it to last as long as other better quality brands.
