Hi!
Cant find a pic but i think theyre upside down if you like, i think basically its like motorbike forks, they started off with the legs at the bottom and sliders with a crown at the top, like say a Harley and then progressed the other way around with legs at the top and sliders at the bottom a bit like the duccatti's (appologies for spelling). :D

Matt, can we pay apex direct with a credit card for this or is it cash only through your good self?

edit: spoke to bren today, we can pay by credit card by simply contacting apex direct with payment details. note: this is still part of the GB, we still need 5 or more of us to get the discounted prices. might make it easier for people!

Hi, Roadwarrior: Yes good point my thought was simply that ill call bren with a list of names, people then make payment DIRECT to Apex, and Bren call me when he's recieved the payments, hey presto! :D Does that sound ok to everyone?

Some more info:

Spoke to Micheal today at Apex (Sounds like Bren is a busy bloke!). The spring rates of the GT pro kit have been revised on advice from Apex, the fronts are the same 4.5KG/mm but the rears have been softened to 7KG/mm (from 7.2KG/mm) not a huge difference but it was apparently done to make the kit more streetable.

Interesting those rates are quite different from the Tein Flex, 4 front, 8 rear for the flex; i would imagine it would promote more understeer from the K-Sport kit when compared to the Teins.

Do we have any more takers guys??

Im proposing that anyone who wishes to place and order, to sign up for the end of Jan, we will take what numbers we have, if its less than 5 (looking at a probable 4 at the moment) then I will call Apex and re-negotiate a discount, is that ok with those concerned? :D

k-sport coilovers

Post by Calina »

Hi all I just noticed your group buy on K-sport from Apex. I recently purchased a set of these coilovers for my rev2 and after 2 months on my car the front passenger coilover has burst. I have just sent it back to K-sport today to have it repaired but it is a real hassle as my car will be off the road until its repaired. Also I spoke to Kev at Apex and he said they've had another MR2 coilover back for the same problem recently.

Also when I was putting the coilovers on the antil roll bar bracket has not been designed properly and we had to cut and weld to make it fit.

Overall I'm not pleased at all so you may want to reconsider this option until they do some improvements.

Hi, did they give you a reason as to what / why the unit failed? I take it the other struts are ok? Any more detailed info would be appreciated.

When you say the anti-roll bar bracket, do you mean the drop link mounts, (ie the mounts on the shock, for the bar that ties the anti-roll bar to the coilover)?

Thanks

More details on the fitment issues you found please calina. I assume you mean the mount for the droplink? Was this at the front?

The only page i've found with fitting info: http://www.mrtwo.net/mr2modproject/mod/ ... nstall.htm

doesnt seem to have had a problem, unless he didnt mention it! Was yours a manufacturing problem, or the design of the coilover?

Apart from the issues you listed overall how have they been performing?

Well another owner that has had these coilovers for the last year has reported no problems with fitting the drop links. Maybe one off??? :-k

I have PM'd Calina with asking if she wouldn't mind posting the details of these issues..

Think you've missed it mate. #-o

Just for info i'm now out of this GB. I wanted the inverted coilovers, but after umming and arring for a while Apex told me they were unable to supply them anymore.
