I looked at doing this on my 3SGE, and was going to mount it in place of the aircon compressor.

The problem is the mini doesn't use a "normal" M45, it's a funny casting and looks really awkward to make adapters for.

Also, you're going to need some aftermarket engine management.

In terms of re-circluating dump valve/Compressor Bypass Valve, check a scrap yard and find a four cylinder Volvo 740/760/940 Turbo. They have them. They also have a HUGE intercooler, but I don't think you'd find anywhere to fit that!!

Prob in terms of intercooler the MR2 turbo one MUST be the easiest, because you know it will fit and will more than be up to the sort of boost you'll be running.

Good luck, I'm going to be following your progress with interest :D

I had a go at this an it wouldn't fit down there due to the exhaust front pipe getting in the way on my engine bay. I don't know if this is the same on your engine but the guy who tried this on mr2oc said he had similar problems / it was too low to the ground. >>>> http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/index.php?name=F ... ic&t=22239

I second that the outlet side is ok but the inlet side is some stupid oval shape..... might try and get hold of a mini cooper s inlet and chop it up a bit. I'm goin to see what my mate who's goin to do the brackets and flanges thinks of it.

I've been told that I shouldn't need any engine management on my car as its got an AFM and the standard map should be ok up to 5 psi.

As for re-circulating dump valve, i was probably going to buy one new as they aren't that expensive (£19 for a OE bosch one)

Thanks for your input, and keep me informed on your project -

Simon, just read this may be of interest

Scroll down and the guy goes on about supercharges and the one used on the SLK, looks like a more compact SC, and has a magnetic clutch to help reduce parasitic drag.

cheers

as you are in the manchester area i'd recommend JP Exhausts (jpexhausts.co.uk) based in Macclesfield for making up your hard pipes to intercooler/inlet etc.. Good prices and bespoke quality.

Cheers lauren. is that for metalwork or silicon pipework? I've found someone who does mig and tig welding up north who's going to sort it out for a couple of beers. I'm going to need some silicon piping at some point tho....

cheers -

Simon

Thats for all induction hard piping plust exhausts of course They made up these for my old SC:

Cheers james I did have a look at the eaton m62, the problem is I think its slightly larger in diameter but not as long, the M45 just fits so I don't think i could put anything bigger in there. The other problem was that if you have a magnetic clutch you need an air bypass system for when the charger isn't running!!

Lauren : Cheers for the info, but my mate kris is sorting out my pipework in stainless :D his job is welding pipes and flanges for a refinery so he should do a decent enough job!!
