So, how much are those SCs new? Anyone sell them here in the UK? Probably TDI, right? :?

So what other pulleys are available, or have people used with this Supercharger? Would be interested to hear how much boost people have been able to get out of these things, and what the boost "curve" looks like.

Does it disengage or something when you come off the throttle, or is it always connected?

Keep up the good work! :thumleft:

As far as I know they are only available from the states or Australia. I've never sen one over here and I have tried various outlets including toyota U.K., they never even heard of it!

Brand new, full kit they retail for $3800.

It's got an actuator valve on it so when you come off the revs it bypasses the pressure. Might put a dump valve on, I'm always up for a cuppa.

I intend, next year to fit a water injection kit and up the boost to 6psi;

OPTIONAL: Super Chargers Pulleys

pulley / psi / bhp / torque
2.00 / 10.00/ 343 / 373
2.20 / 9.00 / 332 / 362
2.40 / 8.00 / 320 / 350
2.60 / 7.00 / 310 / 339
2.80 / 6.00 / 298 / 316
3.00 / 5.00 / 287 / 294
3.20 / 4.00 / 276 / 271
3.40 / 3.00 / 264 / 260
3.60 / 2.00 / 253 / 249

BOLD FIGURES shows stock kit setting. *all figures represent at flywheel

Thats as far as it's safe on standard internals.

I'll see if I can dig out some dyno figs and charts.

This is Brad Bedell's car, running @9psi, with a 12o shot of laughing gas.

Nice info!

So, how is the SC driven? Does it have it's own crank pulley, or is it driven of an existing pulley? I'm assuming that, since the pulley size goes down when power goes up, that you only change the pulley on the SC?

I'm just trying to get an idea on if there's an engine limitation to how fast you can spin the SC, eg on the Mini, you end up causing coolant cavitation as the SC is driven off the water pump.

What are the standard internals like, then? What has to be done to do to handle more abuse?

OMFG! That's insane!! That torque curve is AMAZING, although I can see some issues in getting all that torque down! :o

Thats correct, the smaller the pulley the higher the psi. The older 3vz has stronger internals, by all accounts the 1mz's internals aren't that strong especially the con rods. So I think 6psi would be tops on standard internals, maybe go to 7 psi with the 3vz. The prob with the trd set up is you can't intercool it, hence the water injection. We looked at other systems setups but there is just not the space and also this is made by toyota especially for this engine.

Yeah that torque curve's abit urgent isnt it.

Phil, wow impressed!

think we should give you your prize for JAE2006 now.. ;)

shame about not being able to run an intercooler, i don't think water injection is a good solution really, but if you are running low boost intercooling may not be needed anyway.

I'll bet its plenty quick enough as it is now.

Thanks Lauren, it's not just a matter of the intercooling. I would have to change the internals etc and I just don't have the finance to do that.

Cheers Paul, yeah having seen the supercharger in the flesh it does make you think wether it's worth messing about or just save up for the real thing. Yeah Stuarts done a good job with her mate.

If we get beat on Sunday, I'll ship the engine over for yer cos I be in the states in hiding  .

I'll try to get over next week football results permitting [-o<
