I'm almost surprised that 1990 Rev 1's aren't commanding more money as they were the mk2 virgins - the true first version and in my eyes the "pure" mk2 turbo as far as collectors stuff goes. They look retro cool and known as death traps because of the suspension etc.... given that OK the Rev 3 has more power etc. .... it's a latter version.
And that's from a Rev 3 owner! But deffo agree they have to go up just look at every other 90s jap car

Re: Mk2 prices on the up......
I've been watching a rev2 Turbo that's been posted on ebay which 13 bids later has steadily climbed from a few hundred quid up to £2,050 with three more days to go:

I'm curious to see what this eventually goes for as it's the same year as mine, but has a few "minor" faults, is missing some of the extras, and not quite so tidy.
Not that I have any plans to sell mine, but if this one goes for a good price it will be encouraging on the future "value" front.

I agree completely, the prices should be much higher
Good rev3's should be (IMO) starting at £3K, with rev5's around the £4k mark.....add £1-2k for the equivalent turbo.
If you feel differently, consider its competitors....

Value of cars (or any other item for that matter) should be considered with respect to the current competition, doesn't really matter what historical prices have been like.
Re: Mk2 prices on the up......
I think mine is probably a breaker when it I decide to move on. It's had (good) welding done, some so-so paint fixes, and basically there are cleaner Rev 3 turbos out there only fetching £3k. Idk. It would just be nice to drive it again at some point!
Actually it's weird because back when I got into MR2s then I could have had an S13 for similar money or just a bit more, and the big appreciation on driftable/90s turbo'd jap cars hadn't really begun. I think that is where a lot of the appreciation lies. Unless you like to think outside the box, you're just not gonna see a mid-engined car as being capable of cheeky skids/weekend dori dori.
