If the car was £500, i wonder whether OP would insist on giving her extra money as she was asking less than the IMOC massif deemed reasonable? :-k

gets popcorn and fresh cold beer for this one :lol:

Thats crazy to spend £1800 on a rev 5 with 160k ... i just sold my rev 5 for £1000 with 127k...

If you got that money for one buy rev3 turbo or rev 5 with under 80k miles

Why would you defo have problems on 160K mr2?.. sure enough the one listed sounds like it needs some love, but i see no real issues with a high milage mk2.. the engines will happily take it..

Fixing a high mileage na is going to be much simpler than trying to fix a ropey tubby. Seeing as you can pick up decent 3sge motors for peanuts if the worst comes to the worst.

Indeed, my Rev4 had 145k on it before it was written off. It was mechanically sound.

Yes but high milage cars are more likely to go wrong then low milage cars in general but i know wat you guys are says even mine rev 5 na was solid at 127k but for £1800 for it... it too much i think she was luckly to even b offered £1100 i would of offered £300-£500 rather not buy it to be honest unless im was gonna do a project on it

So basically the only good thing about it is it's a Rev 5?

this is all completely dependent on how they have been looked after.. a high mileage car that has had money spent is going to be more reliable that na low mileage car that has been treated badly.

Buy on condition NOT mileage.. =;

My car is 130k miles +. There almost certainly isn't a perishable/suspension/rolling component on it which hasn't been replaced/renewed. Only really the body has actually covered those miles.
Is it still a 130k+ car ?
Buy on condition, not mileage.

It's funny how hung up people from the UK are on mileage. In other countries, a couple hundred thousand miles on a car isn't a big deal as long as it's been looked after.

In the UK, a 200,000 mile car can have a book full of history and be absolutely immaculate, yet people will run away from it as if it's a grenade with the pin pulled.
