CP pistons at 8.5:1, with a bit of head work that'll come down a bit, fine with stock rods :thumleft:

8.0:1 for 1 bar of boost.....not for me, maybe for 2bar :eye:

just caught up with this thread, I run CP pistons, with stock rods and running 514bhp. . 445hp at the wheels.. obviously alot of mods, etc..

Is it possible to lower CR with grinding head a bit? Does this work requires skills or can I just take the grinder and take some material off a head around valves?

Don't even consider it unless you know exactly what you are doing =;

So what is the solution if I take those Wiseco pistons?

Why then for standard pistons (8.8 CR) 1bar boost is OK?

1 bar boost is not ok for 8.8:1 , you will be working off the knock sensor all the time unless you run high octane fuel.

I would use Wossner 8.0:1 pistons, the Wiseco pistons are designed to be used with racing fuel in the USA.

Bob, since when are the stock gen 2 9:1 3sgte engines not able to run 15psi/1bar? Unless I misunderstand something, your statement goes against what is a standard setup with basic bolt ons in North America.

I also have wiseco pistons, with a 1.4mm hg, so compression is 9:1 as well, running 1 bar for years (as are many many other owners here).

Actually, you're the same guy on mr2oc arguing about the ills of running without a bov/bpv...and now to see that you're saying 15psi is unsafe on a bpu 3sgte...

OP, please do some other research, check out mr2oc and google '3sgte power primer'. The power primer is a bit old but the principles apply. I completely disagree with the comments made saying 9:1 can't run 1bar, simply because it can, on pump gas (91, 93 or 94) octane (north america).

Unless the fuel in the uk is something really low in octane and you can't get 90+.

Well, I hope I will also have no problems with wisecos.

I will be using 98 octane fuel, so it should be even safier.

We will see, the pistons are now on the way to mechanic :)
