Repair is just a case of desoldering the old capacititor, cleaning up the PCB and soldering in a replacement modern equivalent capacitor.

If it turns out you have a faulty capacitor, I can give you details on a suitable replacement.

You're a star jon.

I'll investigate it and try to photograph it also.

So f*cked off with this car! Spent a fortune on it too.

Well, this just got really, really weird. We may have been barking up the wrong tree.

Mechanic took the car out for a drive after the most recent swathe of works. It started nicely, so he tried it out... On a right hand bend the car is normal and drives nicely. On a left hand bend, it coughs and splutters. To further check it out he drove it into the yard and round to where there is an incline. If it's parked across the hill passenger side dipped, it revs well and engine is good. If it's turned around, and attempted to rev - idle is barely maintained and it is almost unable to be driven as per my symptoms before!! Turned around and experiment repeated and confirmed.

He reckons there's nothing wrong with the tank - but that the fuel pump pick up filter, or the pick up piping might be to blame.

Next step - fit new fuel pump and check lift pipe and connections, it would seem.

£ £ £.

Still tinkering. Haven't attacked it since early this week but current suspicion is fpr or fuel pump as per the very beginning... Sigh.

If your interest is sparked by my for sale thread recently, I obviously wouldn't sell the car until it was running like gold again!!

Good luck getting it sorted- I was curious when I saw your for sale thread, but mainly just to know what the problem was in the end :thumleft:
