Nice work
Having spent many an hour on my original prototype I completely feel your pain when making it. I've since refined the design of my original mod, using a few new SMD solutions. Interesting job though isn't it

Thanks buddy
What original prototype are you talking about. Am I accidentally copying your original work?

Haha, no no, I just meant the first one I made as a prototype for a potentially mass (well, tens of) produced modding service.
Originally I went the route shown below but I've since refined it into a neater and more light even set-up. One which has just been completed and is fitted to the car of a certain other member here, as of this afternoon

Well, your prototype looks considerably neater than my end product. I don't intend to repeat the job though!

Any build photos for it? Would be interesting to compare notes

Alas not, but they have mostly been built to allow for easy disassembly, so if I get bored one evening I could try getting some snaps. The aircon switches are the only bit that would require desoldering some wires just to open up

The aircon parts were a nightmare to do. I think I've found a simpler way of doing it now, using a different type of LED. There's a world of things you can do with these, given enough time and focus to do them.
You're a meddler, like me, so no doubt it will be in bits again

My problem was once I'd used those LED strips I couldn't use my other blue LEDs as they weren't the same shade of blue!
A couple of wide angle SMD LEDs where the stock blue was would have been perfect, but I didn't have any to hand, let alone in the right shade of blue. Hence I embedded LEDs inside those to buttons and ran wires out of them

Oh, more than likely

Looks great as is, so I wouldn't worry

Indeed - I got there in the end, so the only reason I can see when I'd need to open them up again is if the hot melt glue softens and the red LEDs behind the red tick or on the blower or temperature knobs dislodge

Some shots from a less-than-usual angle:
Re: Shinny's Caribbean Blue Tubby - The End :(
I went out this evening to shoot some photos in the sunset at a pre-planned location. Alas that location wasn't anywhere near as good as I expected, so I reverted to plan B and made the most of the dying light...

So, um, given the car's clean for once, I couldn't help but keep taking photos! I scouted out a new location on Wednesday evening so shot some photos before work on Thursday. Here is the resulting pic-whoring:

Just... wow! This car is absolutely gorgeous... everything has been done right. Really a big fan of the Blue over white details.
Cracking photos aswell... love the ones with the bus. Great spot!
