Sold it on in erm, 2006 I think.

@OP, yep, I really like the contrast of red and black and it's very 80's, plus I like the car in it's original incarnation. I bought this after I had two MK1b's.

Nah, 4AGE is where it's at. I kept it on original wheels, A539s and tracked it all over the place, including Spa and the 'Ring. :+:

All it had was Koni's and Fensport Springs, Magnex Exhaust, K&N filter and Sparco wheel. I still have the K&N and Sparco wheel on my current car.

Can't see your pics, because the MK1 club site took so long to load I gave up.

Loaded pretty quick for me :)

Here's a couple of your pics

Agree with everything, but I'd have ripped that 4AGE out and stuck a 3SGTE in there. Now we're talking!!

Great work, Sean, that really was a mess, a lot of people I guess would have broken this.

Well done on saving this one. How was the chassis? Was that rotten too?

The interior was mint which meant I could see the potential, there was alot of small aesthetic jobs that needed doing which aren't obvious to the eye.

The chassis was fine but front and rear bumper reinforcement bars were really badly rotten!

resprayed the alloy wheels myself, as well as the black trim pieces, hardest work was cutting away the arches and sills and having to build some areas up with fiberglass, just time consuming, but worth the effort.

Needed a new ECU to pass its MOT because of emissions that was all.

Polished up the original exhaust tips too

Where did you get the car from? The number plate looks very, very much like my old 1985 Mk1a!

Wow that's good to know, the reason i don't know it's history is because the previous owner lives in Germany and the documents are in a loft of the house he rents out in Warrington :( he's never shown any sign of getting them for me when he comes back here, im going to badger him again

You could contact DVLA & get the full history of the car Sean

I've done that with several cars in the past

Writing to previous owners rarely produces replies though in my experience

Thanks Peter, what i need most from the previous owner is service history log book :( and anything that helps me know more about the car I.e. Receipts, not that there is anything to complain about :D
