When the cat was installed was it run at fast idle for 10th mins?

No, when it was installed it was literally put though the cataylast stabilisation test or whatever its called, which is the longer one to get it ready but it was no where near 10mins! wasnt fast idled for 10mins

It should be, it can void a warranty.plus looks like it would have gone through if they tried a bit longer.

Had issues with mine for ages. Every time it went for mot the guy failed it 3 years in a row. Ended up costing me a cat every time. And a lambda 1 time. Expensive.

This time I thought it would do the same flew through. The secret the guy let me run the throttle. I watched the numbers on idle religiously. ran it 20 mile to the test. Got it straight in. ran it through thte idle test, then He told me to rev the crap out of it a few times to help it sort of reset itself, just blip it. Then ran the fast straight after.

Worked a treat. 204k miles and still going strong. Everyday car.

the.old trick is just to tell them that it is not the origonal engine! tell them it is out of a early j reg and they have no optoon but to pass it! works for me every time :thumleft:
