Definition of bearding = any kind of mechanical work on a car. The term comes from staring into an engine bay and scratching your chin or beard(!).

PVC might make it more interesting.

WOW, £8K on an AE86!

As said, you could get something much nicer for £8K, but then that's not the point. All the best with the endeavor :thumleft:

Bender Unit had a nice one 8)

I think it's all personal taste though.

If i had that cash spare i'd be in a mk1 or 2 escort for sure. That has always been what i've lusted after, but can't explain why or justify the cost to the mrs...

AE86 is one of the ultimate Jap dream cars for me too, along with 240Z, NSX and S800 Coupe.

I'd be wanting a standard unmolested Trueno though and they don't seem to exist anymore, they've all been stripped and ragged by wanabee drifters ](*,)

Good luck :thumleft:

GLOL @Craig!

Yes, 8K is a lot, but it's a bit of a dream car of mine, so if I can afford to get a really nice one at the top end of the market, I think that's what I want to do.

I want a Levin, ideal spec would be with a blacktop 20v, though a mildly (ie reliable) tuned 4AGE would be absolutely fine with say air filter exhaust.

Some sort of aftermarket suspension but not too mad.

1.5 way diff. Standard diff is fine.

Want full interior, a nice road car that I can have fun in at the weekend.

The main reason for wanting to import is that I want a car with working aircon. Also want power steering.

Wow Lauren I was well shocked when I read you want an eight six,

I have pictures of a mint red over black one that was at JAE last year.

Cheers Chris and see you there. Think there is a fair few of us going. Notice Vashy's name is down for it. Great stuff. :+:

I think the other thing is, that whilst a new car is lovely and reliable, I could never really bring myself to go to 'Panda' meets, so it kind of suits my mentality to back in the scene again like I used to be so much with the MR2s. Halcyon days they were.

And Pete, please keep this one for a while(!). Good stuff though on finding the car you want, could tell by FB that you were a tad excited!

January 2014
..the only thing I can promise for sure is slow progress.

May 2015
just have this niggling thought that if I rip out the wiring, then the car will never get out of the garage again.

Still in the garage...
