No it doesn't, it depends on the laws of physics. Take an average car and it will corner quicker than an average bike. Do the same with supercars and superbikes and the result is the same, do it with a pikey 600cc Aygo and a 50cc scooter and you still end up with the same result.

I never said that the bike was always slower (indeed, it's almost always faster in a straight line as I was hinting at in my particular tale), but they will never corner as quick as a car. Your grip is always limited by having half the amount of wheels, there's nothing wrong with that as unfortunately no amount of engineering brilliance can escape the magic that is physics.

Speed Triple is a great tool, wheelie machine! :thumleft:

I wrode a hornet a few years ago with a decent end can, K&N filter and a stage 1 Dyno-Jet... Was a real good bit of fun around urban areas

sounds good! Gearing is a great place to start, what has been done up front to compliment the shock?

Decent bars will make it feel better too, and yeah ripthe fairing off and treat it to some nice lights!

atom faster than a bike? not quite, i do think the atom is an awesome piece of design and execution and in a world where you have oncoming and turning traffic i'd choose one over a bike everytime, but i'd still take a bike on a track

Think you'll find they are after 60mph

sorry but i disagree...

i could name plenty of bikes that are faster from 60, you need to remember the power to weight you're dealing with... dont be ignorant!

Atom 0-100 in 6.86 seconds (top end 140mph)

GSXR1000 0-100 5.63 seconds (top end 186mph, limited)

1 second difference doesn't even begin to make any difference to how much more fun the atom is though

You're changing your argument now to suit your opinion!

I'd rather have the Gixxer, you cant wheelie an Atom!

Have you ever raced your bike on a racetrack?
And by race track I mean a real race track, with as many bends as straghts and not a traffic light GP or a motorway.

No one here has denied that bikes accelerate quickly and can go fast.
What every one seems to be trying to tell you is that with 4 wheels a car WILL corner faster than a bike. As Ekona states quite correctly, the laws of physics apply that regardless as to how quickly in a straight line a bike can go, with only 2 wheels, it cant corner as fast.

Im not denying that fact AT ALL...

Although corner speed can be balanced against distance as its often the case that a bike can still be faster point to point.

What i was merely saying was that in a straight acceleration test there are bikes a lot faster than the Atom!

But thats the Joy of big capacity Superbikes, under 5 grand can get you something that WILL slay a supercar IN SOME SITUATIONS!

and just for the record, im not slating the Atom... i'd love a go in one, it'd probably blow my mind!

The comparison is pointless really: a car is a car, a bike is a bike and each deserves mutual respect as do thier pilots :thumleft:

i got some better weight oil in the shocks.. taking the fairing off to get rid ofthe weight on the front taking that metal that holds it all in place weighs a fair bit

keep looking at renthals ultralows

Most every day situations a bike is going to own any car from a seriously great height.

But for a race track I'd take a car personally.

If your buzz is going in straight lines very very quickly there is bike drag racing.

Like for like and including the talent of the driver/rider I'd pick the car.

I do get the attraction of bikes, I just think any half decent car will go round a corner quicker.
