How long have you got out of your engine so far Tasty, and how reliable is it running that power?

Probably get more miles than the Subaru can do..

Anyone came across a New M3? had one right behind me today I could tell he wanted to show off his power as he was virtually on my bumper to this roundabout. Raced upto 60 comming off the roundabout and he was still right behind me then zooooom he overtook me, he must have hit 90 - 100 as he was gone lol. No way was I risking going over 60mph on a country road. I just wish we were on a drag strip to see what would have happened.

So I wouldnt bother trying to race a new m3 (unless you have a monster build :P) Stock M3 is something like 430bhp, 0-60mph in 4.5 secs 4 litre V8 monster oh and then think of all the modern technology in the suspension etc

Oh one Big plus side of being overtook by an M3 racing you is hearing that amazing sound it makes!!

They're a little more subtle to look at that the last few M3's but the noise =P~

I saw one the other day and had to look about 3 times to make sure it was actually an M3.

I would be interested to see further stats than just the 0-60 times.

I bet in gear and between say 70-90 that thing shifts some.

Had a quick google but couldnt find much

What ever it is it will be very fast :D :thumleft:

You can get a used New shape (57 plate) M3 for £32k - £35k now from a main BMW Dealer  Thats about half the price of a new one!! just shows how much value they loose

Im realy thinking of getting a E46 M3 in a year or 2 :thumleft:

M3s are nice but they sound like Corsas with bean cans on the back. :puker:

There's no doubt they can perform. I've drove a few now but the noise really is irratating. People say our MR2s sound cheap and nasty with big exhausts but i'd prefer the deep mean drown on my japspeed with downpipe than that tinny M3 sound. Everyone to their own I guess..

DAFL. :+:

I only had a lowly 325i with a replacement stock looking exhaust, easily the best sounding car i've ever owned.

MR2nut is unable to comprehend that another car could in any way be better than a 15 year old MR2.

Have to dissagree on that one, The E46 M3 sounds awsome, one of the best sounding affordable performance road cars I think :thumleft: If I could have the same M3 Rasp on my 2 I would have it :thumleft:

You have to admit, its one damn nice car!! -

Yeah that is damn fine car and I have to agree they sound awesome but you have to give it a kicking to get it to sound that way, I do like the Tubbies turbo worble when your just idling or rolling in traffic, but the M3 does sound amazing.

Neither of them sound quite like an Impreza though. 8)

I got to drive the top end 3 series diesel the other day at work, I was mightily suprised just how quick they are!!! the torque is also insane.

I know, them New Deisels are also very fast, especially the 330d's or 335d's. Was it Auto the one you drove? I think if I was going for one of them I would go Auto as the auto box is amazing in them I think.

Actually after driving both petrol and diesel I think the 330d / 335d's are better than the petrols  , You dont get the nice sound of a petrol engine but they just feel faster

Prsonally im not surprised you pulled on an E36.

even in my corrado VR6 with only about 210bhp, i had a blast off lights with one and it certainly wasnt pulling any really distance from me! maybe if we had got into scary territory, it would have slightly pulled!

And thats against a VR6 and they aint fast!

And i am sorry to say, but i agree that the m3 noise isnt that great!!! Tinny sound!

Personally, note wise (talking practically affordable cars here) give me a scooby, then give me back the deep throaty warble of my VR6 with full straight through stainless magnex system! it was utter heaven the noise that thing makes!!!!!!!!! i miss that noise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :pale:

E46 m3 i would also happily drag with....new style hmmmm, up the 1/4 at crail i completely dicked one but i dont think the boy had quite got used to the gearing etc lol

Have to agree........dont think they sound THAT good. A mate has a new m3, very fast, sounds nice, but not quicker than a mildly modded tubby, would consider one when I need a big ass family car..............

Inline engines dont sound as good as Vee's.

Vee's have 2 manifolds which as far as I can tell results in the sound. Pretty much the same as the Scooby, which is a flat four but the same principle applies.

Personally, of the 6 cylinder M3's the only one that's made a noise to impress me was the E46 M3 CSL.
