Re: WRA 2
Silverstone would be a better location for those travelling from all over the country. Dunsfold would be more "holy grail" though. Will still ask my mate to get info on it.
Re: WRA 2
Didn't realise this thread was running
as mentioned in the other thread by Patrick - trying to coordinate it with some MR2 championship stuff would be awesome
And as I have also offered, trying to co-ordinate it with a track day may be another option.
At BookaTrack we have run a number of similar events for other car clubs over the past year.
BaT have secured Rockingham pretty much exclusively for trackdays in 09.
We could potentially offer up the track time to MR2's exclusively for the event etc... But I would need to know potential dates ASAP before the BaT dates go public
BaT obviously will not look after managing the whole event - only the track day related stuff (and possibly the handling course). Getting the cars sorted, managing the convoy and any other activities/stands etc... would be up to the WRA organsiers.

Re: WRA 2
Just had an idea,i have organised a club stand at Silverstone for there Jap Tuning day on 31st mr2oc.co.uk/ForumsPro/...06661.html
The idea is to combine this event with the WRA,i will need to speak directly with Silverstone if this is possible, the attempt then could be made in there lunch break what do you guys reckon.

Mick
Here the dates for the MR2 Championship. Now if we could combine the WRA attempt with on of these dates that would be awesome! 25th April at Brands Hatch maybe? This is where the Lotus club held their attempt so Brands Hatch would know what is required.

Sunday March 15th Snetterton Double Header
Saturday April 25th Brands Hatch Double Header
Sunday May 10th Cadwell Park Double Header

Saturday August 22nd Silverstone Single Header
Saturday September 19th Donington Park Double Header
Sunday October 11th Mallory Single Header

Re: WRA 2
Good news been speaking with Patrick at Rogue and received this email and looks like the WRA will be held at Silverstone on the 22nd August this is provisional until confirmed
Hi Mick,
I have agreement in principle to hold the event at Silverstone on Saturday 22nd August 2009. Typically entry fees for a race meeting will be £10 in advance and £12 on the door, but I will see what can be done about securing a better advanced rate (this is down to the circuit not the club). It is likely that the MR2 event would be run during the lunchtime break and that the MR2 Championship races would timed to fit around it and allow the MR2 race cars to participate in the procession. There will be a dedicated parking area set aside for the MR2s, possibly in view of the race circuit.
I will discuss the idea more with the 750MC during Autosport (Thursday - Sunday this week) and firm up some more details. Your point of contact will be myself as MR2 Championship formula official, so please make sure any correspondence goes through me.
In the meantime, I'm happy for you to announce the above date as provisional.
Best regards,
Patrick Mortell

Just recieved an email from GWR,had to down load 30 pages of technical stuff to read and sign and fax back to them, well thats me stuffed then lol, once they recieve the forms back i should recieve an email within 4 weeks with a guide line for the record we intend to attempt.
Re: WRA 2
Right guys as most of you know i'm setting up an event for our club at Silverstone to attend the Japenese Tuning Show on the 31st May,i contacted the events organiser and they said they would love us to be there, she comented the track they use is only 1.69 miles long so i just emailed her back saying thats not a problem we will do 2 circuits of the track lol.So fingers crossed we will have the event there plus be entertained at the same time.I have also asked her for a concesssion on the tickets as we are expecting 300+,will keep you further informed once i hear back from her.
Re: WRA 2
Just had this email come through looks promising
Hi Mick
Abbie is currently out of office until monday, so I just wanted to let you
know she will be contacting you as soon as she is back in.
So you know , as Abbie said in a previous email, we are very keen to have
you at JTS. We have had a meeting with our directors regarding your interest
and idea but I will let Abbie continue to deal with this and explain more
herself. We all want to help you achieve the rolling convoy.
Many Thanks

Re: WRA 2
Yes they broke the record of having the most cars in one area...but not the record of the most marque of car in a rolling convoy....

Mick
As i said in my previous email, we'd love to have you at JTS. Yes i can
do a concession for you with regards to ticket prices - Drivers £5 and
Passengers £10 (which is £5 off both tickets).
How many drivers do you think you will have by then? Also, how long do
you think you would need the track for in total (by the time you have
got everyone on and off the track and also done the convoy)
Have you been in contact with the Guinness World Records?
Regards
Abbie
