from a paint sprayers point of view ! black is a colour that is hard work to look after . black shows the slightest imperfection in paint or dents. black usually shows more stone chips than any other colour . while black tends to hide curves and contours of a car i will say that there is something about black cars on the whole ! a highly polished black car is very pleasing.
white on the other hand is opposite to black , it hides scratches , dents but needs alot more cleaning . but i have to say white cars with black trim looks the muts nuts in my opinion . but RED with black trim looks equally good ( i have to say that  )

the most soothing colour to eye is yellow ! i love yellow with black trim .

Different cars look good in different colours but in my opinion, for the MR2 (and hopefully I won't upset anyone here :) ) -

White is a big no-no
Black looks great :thumleft:
The aquamarine and caribbean are lovely colours
Yellow and red I think look a little tacky
Blue and green just don't work
Steel mist grey of course looks good :eye:

I've got a red one and I quite like it. If I could choose it'd be either a white one, or a late (Rev3 onwards) yellow one! ;)

Robbo, when I've been to Southampton a few weeks ago, I saw an MR2 very similar to yours. Same colour and a Tubby aswell. Wonder if it was yours? :D

Would have taken a photo but didn't wanna look like a car thief or anything. ;)

Had to show you this brilliant post from Gersen.....best ever post in my opinion, slightly different from the best colour...but close enough.

Gersen wrote: Part The First – The Old Which Colour is Faster Chestnut

The simply way to answer this is by simply deductive reasoning.

Regrettably there has been much misunderstanding on this subject – caused most likely by addled owners suffering dementia and most likely brain damage induced by the highly toxic and stupefying chemicals used in yellow, purple, green and white paints.

This experiment relies on the fact that the speed of light remains a constant and where it is reflected or emitted from an object moving towards or from the observer a corresponding 'shift' occurs in the wavelength to preserve the constant.
Image
Gersen In the Lab

Where the object is approaching the observer there will be a shift towards shorter wavelength (blue shift).

Were the object to be rescinding from the observer then will be a shift towards longer wavelength (red shift).

Hence by willfully misinterpreting both this and the speeds required before this would become relevant I can make the outrageous claim that MR2's coming towards you appear bluer and if they are going away they will appear redder.

This can be seen in the diagrams below

Quantoluxic flux in the space time manifold – Gravitic dilation flow chart expressed as a factor of ravioli

Relationship Between Thing and Other Thing

All this being said -

Blue cars look faster coming towards you (than say a green one)
Red cars look faster receeding from you (or yellow cars for that matter)

For the ultimate in performance – paint the front of your car blue (to appear faster in rear view mirrors) and the back red!

Image
FEEEER THE UBER POWER OF APPLIED SCIENCE!!!!

Since the colour black is effectively the absense or highly diminished reflection of light in the visible spectrum of the observer it could be both - the black paint would invariably reflect light in the UV and infrared spectrums too.

Black cars could be either but have added "fictionium (fik-show-knee-um) quarks and unobtainium (un-ob-tay-knee-um)" muons in the paint which causes a diminished turbulence in the space time continuum and a corresponding drop in the frictional co-efficient between the paint and light. Therefore it appears to be moving faster even when stationary.

Hence the so called “Black MR2” effect discovered in 1962 by an UK Army Research program.

All of this would only become relevant when , for instance, you were reentering the Earths atmosphere in an MR2.

Part the Second – Who’s Pet is the Best

For my next experiment I need to lock a cat called Schrödinger in a box with an Austrian and and a 'diabolical device'.

Firstly I paint the Austrian red and the cat blue, then the box is locked……………………..another time you say?

Woah - deja vu?!?

Gersen has for some time been controlled by his cat (Zebulon the Great) as part of a global feline conspiracy in climate control and the development of a paw operated can opener to render human kind redundant. As such his views do not necessarily represent those of the IMOC forum operators or any other sane and rational human being for that matter. If spotted, he should not be approached and law enforcement should be notified or at least advised to point and laugh.

I've seen this question umpteen times over the years - the topic title may as well read "What colour is your MR2?"

The easy answer is, what colour MR2 do you have?

That is the best colour. SEOT (sorted end of thread). ;)
