Re: GB: SW20 Front Anti Sway Bar Reinforcement Plates
Hey guys,
I have had a few emails from this site regarding the plates. They are all sold now.
Due to then demand more so from the other euro sites we are having some more made.
I'll keep this thread updated with progress.
Sorry to all that missed out, for some weird reason there was heaps of interest right at the end.

Re: GB: SW20 Front Anti Sway Bar Reinforcement Plates
Are these plates just a simple bolt on item?
Excuse me if im being stupid, but i can't see how adding a plate will prevent the bolts being ripped out of the body under strain. Surely plate or no plate, the bolts are still threaded into the same holes in the body and hence will be just as likely to rip out? Or do the plates have threaded holes on also which allows for the strain to then be spread to the third(additional) bolt? Or do these plates have to be welded in place - which would then make sense?

Re: GB: SW20 Front Anti Sway Bar Reinforcement Plates
from when i did mine it wasnt the bolt holes that was the weak part, it was the chassis itself which came away, like opening a tin of baked beans with its ring-pull provided lol. i added a plate which sorta spreaded the load so it wasnt just putting all the stress in one area and reinforced the weak parts.

Re: GB: SW20 Front Anti Sway Bar Reinforcement Plates
Excellent guys, I'm really happy ur happy!!
Let us know how you go with fitting.
I also recommend getting some new bolts. It is not required but I think its a good idea.
Revision 1 has 2 X 20mm M8 1.25 pitch bolts and 1 X 20mm M10 1.25 pitch on the forward most bolt the plates mount to.
I recommend replacing with
2 X 25mm M8 1.25 pitch
1 X 25 - 30mm M10 1.25 pitch.
Specify high tensile strength bolts appropriate for automotive applications.
This allows for the 4mm plate thickness and a 1mm spring washer.
As I said though, not a necessity, I was criticised by another vendor selling these for recommending new bolts but its your choice. Kinda makes sense hey and for a few extra pounds its worth it.
