Thats fair by me, I can understand you wanting to look into the issue.

Personally I feel that this site has changed somewhat in the last 2 years, when I first started to use imoc I was very impressed by the depth of knowledge of the longer term members and the general sense of community I got from the site, recently it seems that the sense of community has diminished and posts specifically in this forum turn into often personal slanging matches. Its a shame.

I agree the Forum has changed, but so has the membership.
A lot of the members that were on IMOC when I first joined in 2003 are not the ones that are on here now.
Cars are sold, people move on and its up to the new people to help keep the community spirit.

I am looking at the threads that you nominated.

Not directing this at anyone in particular, but I also find that people are very quick to blame Admin and Moderators for things being wrong. Its YOUR club, if you don't like something then make a suggestion, not just say IMOC is cr@p and pin the blame on the Moderators. We are volunteers tryign to keep the site runnign smooth, but if you want a site for you then you got to put in input - use the suggestion area, send PMs to Admin etc get the club moving how you want it moving

To be honest the reason I directed a degree of blame (by no means all of it) at the mods is because in the Evo thread for example, instead of fighting the humble 2's corner certain mods did pretty much the opposite in the face of blatant 'trolling' it was a little unexpected. (i should add that you did back up the MR2 :thumleft:)

That's all well and good.

And just for the record i don't think it's changed a great deal since i joined...there's always been slanging matches. Maybe it's got a little blamey on the mods recently but i think we all know where that's stemmed from. i have no further comment on this so please don't ask.

Anyway, can we get back to the abuse - i beleive people were trying to hurt my feelings.

Isn't fighting the "losing" corner not trolling? Why do you expect the mods to argue that the MR2 is a better car when it isn't? In my mind the mods merely stated facts, to argue black is white is what is trolling.

If you came to the MLR and started a "vs" thread you'd be pretty much shot down in flames within 5 mins. Esp if you implied your evo was faster than a car we all know it certainly isn't.

In all honestly, thats what 90% of people tried to do when Tim was banned but that was ignored? Not sure if thats anything to do with yourself but it's still a huge loss to IMOC that the majority didnt want.

I don't want to re-open the whole Tim saga on here.
However if you want to discuss that on the PM with me then I am happy to speak to you more about it.
Not got anythignto hide, just it is an issue that is over now and needs to be left alone.

*edit* To add to that, that resulted out of a breach of the rules, what I was referring to was matters in general, whereby somethign is not quite right with the forum or is taking time to be implemented and perfected, or proposed changes.

Thread needs locking, simple as.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

I agree totally, what I meant was that in that scenario, you were trashing MR2 Turbos on an MR2 website, yet instead of defending MR2 Turbos (not arguing that they're better!) certain people pretty much joined in with the bashing.
That surprised me.

I just tire of all the MR2 bias. I fully expect it of course on an MR2 forum and to an extent there is nothing wrong with that. But it is fact that there are faster cars than the MR2 and there are better handling cars. Equally there are cars that exist that trounce the MR2 in every area. I think its just being realistic. I don't think this is 'trolling' at all.

I do though have a soft spot for Aidy. I think maybe some people take it far too seriously when they feel their choice of car is being 'insulted'.

A stock Rev2 would be slower and handle worse than a boxster S. A modified Rev2 on coilovers with bushing and ARB's etc would be faster and handle better than a boxster S.

I'm not sure where the bias lies or the confusion? Having driven both, I know this to be the case aswell! This forum is full of cars both stock and tuned through to hyper-tuned so drawing comparisons is impossible.

Correct. I've outhandled and outsprinted plenty of Boxster S' out there but for some reason there's a few on here who seem to take sides with the car they dont even own :-s

I've got a rev2, and admittedly its not stock. CT20 running 18psi, Intercooler, Apexi Induction kit, downpipe and custom exhaust so i've no doubt i'll be around the 300bhp mark, and with more power to weight, it's quite obvious that it will beat the Porsche

I just think that for the 5k(ish) that I have spent on this, i've got a farrrrrrr better looking, more exciting and more powerful car than I would have with the Porsche costing tons more and thats not to mention the servicing costs

....in a straight line. I don't think you buy a porker (esp a Boxster) for its straight-line grunt.

To pick up girls and to show people you have more money than sense.

Although not in that order.
