You can play GT4 (for the PS2) on the PS3 if you have one of the early PS3s ie 60gb ones.

That's just play covering themselves in case their logistics go awry. It'll be on store shelves on the 3rd.

I've waited quite a while for this, a few more days won't make much difference.

there is damage but not sure how extensive it is. i read once back on xbox 1 when forza was released, companys dont like their cars being trashed etc so many dissagree with the dammage in games

Read it somewhere on the net. Check this video out as well..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8wZWdJU ... =1&index=8

You can see from the speed of impact to the resulting minor asthetic damage does not tally with a fully functioning damge engne which affects the performance of the car.

And an article on the subject... Considering how many GT5 youtube vids have been put on the net, if there was a propper damage engine, dont you think you would have seen a dcent vid yet?

And another damage video..

i think peoples expectations for what is accomplishable in a damage engine is somewhat inflated by comparison to what realisticly possible.

the damage created in that last video, although not tallying up with the impact force, i felt was reasonably convincing as progressive damage. As much as i like the burnout franchise, there arnt 1000 cars, they arnt high polygon models and the physics of the impact leve the car in simular states every time you crash (how it drives). admitadly that video of gt5 shows a car not effected equal to the force applied, but we dont know what the settings were (visual only, full, semi etc) to be able to critisize fully and say "is that all it can do". i have seen roll overs and varying levels of damage. In a game where driving and avoiding crashing is important i dont think moaning that the damage engine isnt very good realy makes much difference.

i think the bigger picture about this game will make all these critisisms pale in comparison. Unless something drastic happens on release

Thats where most of us disagree.

After people have been playing the likes of Race Driver Grid and Forza etc... i think that a game of such magnitude like GT5 should include some sort of decent damage engine considering its hyped as the ultimate driving suimulator.

Whilst i understand and agree its a massive job to cover such a wide variety of cars and realistically is impossible to achieve perfection, there should be some kind of generic base code across the board for unseen damage to the running gear. Wheels/suspension/engine/gearbox. This aspect has been around for years before.
