I wouldn't get too hung up on oil temps after idling mate, you'll only see high temps after working the engine/ heating your turbo up with boost.

Where are you measuring oil temp from?

Hope the bugs ain't winning :thumleft:

There's a (suspected leaky) sandwich plate in-line with the filter, which has the temp and pressure sensors on. Although when I eventually sort the jack and get it in the air, if it turns out that the leak is the plate then I'll go for the option of using the plug holes around the filter using 3/8 BSP X 1/8 adapters.

Still not sure how long I'll have the Mule for to be honest, as international work opportunities have arisen again. :-k

Interesting...where you thinking of jetting off to?? And does it definately mean selling up?

Would be a shame to see you break your car up after the journey you've been on with it...

Split between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. I'm all for moving away however the UAE offer has some downsides, especially for the female in my life.. Ideally we'd both like to move to the States, or for me it would be a small island in the south. For some reason though all the women there are called Shiela, which must be tradition or some TV inspired fad :-k

There'd be no point me keeping it if I was going and in my mind I've been thinking this was my last year with it. What will actually happen is anyone's guess though.

While I ponder the many decisions in the word right now I did get around to doing another job which I've been meaning to do for ages, that being the lights. Namely swapping the one pair of cheapo H4 with some Osram NB+, to match the other pair which are already in there and came from Mule v1. God knows how the NS one survived when the entire fitting didn't?!

Bulbs (exciting huh)

I also wanted to get the alignment of the quads sorted, as just like all MR2 lights they sit higher and lower than the bodywork at various points. These are before

Bit of a colour difference between cheapo and NB+

Out they come. I do like how easy they are to remove and how little they weigh. :)

Here's what they look like on the inside, if anyone's always wanted to know

One blind Mule. Although it has a bit of a Nissan 300ZX look at that angle :-k

Image

I can see! All lined up with the bodywork now too. Although it was a bit of a faff to get it right. Just like the pop-ups I guess.

Image

Much better. Still not overly impressed with the reflectors but it's the best I can do with what I've got.

I'm not generally a fan of the quad lights you have, but they really suit the front end of your car, and really starting to appreciate the weight saving involved- no motors and lighter fittings :-k

You might want to consider the "cow on bonnet" mod to add some front end weight back O:)

Actually looks very cool without the lights in as well!!

Good effort mate :thumleft:

I'd hate to see it broken, so selling it is the only option. Again assuming I actually go of course :-$ The main issue with selling it is that it's not exactly mainstream and it isn't your average £2-3k tubby sale, so finding a buyer might be tricky :-k

We'll see what happens :)

The lights are ultra light. We're talking around 2kg each! I am concerned that there's a lot of weight missing from the front, which isn't helping handling. :-k It means it's increasingly important that the arches etc are sorted. I need them to pull the outer edges of the bumper in too, as they do flare out a fair bit, as you can see on the photos :?

Mule rides for all, don't worry. It'll be like Skegness beach

As Ashman says mate, with all that weight missing off the front end, you need one of these on the bonnet to save you from the nearest hedge at the sight of a corner:

Totally! Well known, tried and tested. Surprised there aren't more threads in the spotted section, such as "bovine strap fronted MR2"

Or ditch the engine lid and have that guy sat in the frunk. If it ducked down and opened it's mouth it would look like I'm rocking a supercharged Hemi :thumleft:

The median weight range for a mule is between about 370 and 460 kg

British-breed cows such as Hereford, Angus (including Red Angus and Black Angus), and Shorthorn mature between 1000 to 2000 lbs (or 454 kg to 907 kg).

Based on wikipedia I think you'll need a big mule, or possibly a mule and a half...but using a half mule would be messy, and just a little bit silly.

I'd stick with a cow if I was you...it's proven technology :thumleft:
